As Maggie Smith said, life is short and the world is at least half terrible so I am treasuring the fact that I finally got to arrange my best fossil bits in a display case. Sharks on top, paleozoic/mesozoic below, cenozoic on the bottom. Been waiting years to do this, and I love it.

I'm making more built in bookcases. These will be on risers so the baseboard wraps around them, & they'll have a little space in between with fluted moulding covering the gaps, & they'll be painted white & have beadboard backs & the bigger shelves will display stuff too. I'm happy about this.

Some very basic bookshelves that will be made into bookcases; these are unpainted with no backs and are sitting in a moderately cluttered garage.

Saw this beauty on the road: a Chevy Citation II, '84 or '85. My first car was an '80 Olds Omega, and while the X-Body GMs were objectively bad, it warmed my heart because they're so, so rare to see that I figured they were all gone. It was like seeing an Aurochs with a terrible turning radius.
