There’s a restaurant like this in Windsor, Ontario, just across the river from Detroit, called “Ukrainian Restaurant”. Run by a woman in her 90s who cooks everything in a small kitchen in the back. The dishes are kept in the cabinets along the wall. You pay in cash. She will not accept tips.

Brutal cold winter storm outside and I’ve had to work the entire weekend, but I like my job very much and we have a warm house with good food and coffee and the snow on the window is pretty. So I’m stopping to remember that I have so much to be thankful for.
