Another @octocon.bsky.social committee meeting finished - it's scary to think that in exactly 2 months, we'll just have wrapped up this year's convention! It's going to be a good one, for sure.

This is Mia. I met her at the Cats Trust today and I'm picking up her tomorrow. She's 14 years old and likes other cats but also her peace - hopefully she and my 20 year old girl will eventually get along.

Getting a limited signed copy of a book from the public library feels weirdly transgressive, but at the same time like a source of almost secretive glee. 'Look what I found!' I will have to give it back.

It's been a few years and a different platform since I last tried to find out. So does anyone here recognise these three kitties from an early 00s webcomic, and can tell me what they and it were called? (I think the grey cat was Indy. And despite the Newkie Broon box, the comic was American.)

My plan to get the special Waterstones edition of Hemlock & Silver by @tkingfisher.com was thwarted by them being sold out, but I did get the anniversary copy of The Hollow Places with the spredges...

I was on the opposite platform to you (maybe at the same time) and there was one poor pigeon with such a bad foot that I said sorry to it aloud and got some confused stares from other passengers. There was also a gull who very much wanted my brownie.

Stayed up till 2:30am to read The Witch Roads, @kateelliottsff.bsky.social' latest (v excellent, didn't want it to finish), and then got up for a 7:30am sea dip. I am predicting an afternoon nap.

The sea and sky are both clear pale blue, with just a hint of morning gold on the the horizon past the dark headlands either side of the bay.

Inspired by @aliettedebodard.com I too have made banana muffins to @stephanieburgis.bsky.social's recipe (though with chocolate chips not sultanas) and they are oh so very delicious.

Finally getting a daycent fry on my way home from Belfast. The hash brown is the same as the ones I used to get from the filling station on the way to work, so I am satisfying my flavour nostalgia as well as my cravings for potato bread and soda farls.
