Excited about the publication of this paper with Linda Fowler. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/... which lays out our argument for 3-member districts with STV to address gerrymandering and disincentivize extreme partisanship. Extraordinarily good peer review from @geog-analysis.bsky.social

@yale.edu released a report on why the public (allegedly) doesn't trust higher education. The @nytimes.com covered it uncritically. So... I'm "pleased" to unveil my next debunking: an interactive annotated doc that points out factual, logical, and rhetorical errors. Enjoy! #AcademicSky

State lawmakers’ eyebrows jumped at a House committee hearing Tuesday, as Georgia State University geographer Taylor Shelton shot off a barrage of statistics about institutional investors’ staggeringly high level of home ownership across Georgia. atlantaciviccircle.org/2025/02/26/g...

Welcome new people. I post on redistricting(for school districts and legislative districts), uncertainty in spatial data, and spatial patterns of inequality. I also teach Apocalyptic Geography @Penn State and am always looking for failed institutions to talk about with students.

Hi everyone. The Onion, with the help of the Sandy Hook families, has purchased InfoWars. We are planning on making it a very funny, very stupid website. We have retained the services of some Onion and Clickhole Hall of Famers to pull this off. I can't wait to show you what we have cooked up.

Headed to the North American Regional Science meetings in New Orleans tomorrow. Looking forward to a great session on Friday organized by Alan Murray. I will be talking about voter registration files as a source of individual-level geolocated data. Look me up if you are going.

There are revised Commuting Zones for 2020. These geographic units are often used as proxies for labor markets in the U.S. but function best, in my view, as representations of how rural areas are connected to economic cores. Open Access paper at rdcu.be/dTbR6 #geosky #econsky
