Nils Fleischhacker @cryptomaeher.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Sorry, but it was duly decided that the second Thursday of September is Bundesweiter Warntag. Any protest against that would have needed to be filed some time before 2020. 010
Nils Fleischhacker @cryptomaeher.bsky.social · 10/09/2026The skin on the tip of my right thumb started peeling a bit, which, long story short, caused me to lose access to my bank account. The future really is now. 011

Nils Fleischhacker @cryptomaeher.bsky.social · 26/08/2026It was the first multi-day hike with my 6yo. She was a real trooper. Overall we hiked 44km over 5 days with slightly over 1600m of total elevation gain. Hiked an out-and-back route from Haukeliseter across Hardangervidda towards Hellevassbu. Didn't quite make it there but that's fine. 100
Nils Fleischhacker @cryptomaeher.bsky.social · 26/08/2026With some regret, I'm back. There's something peaceful about the treeless environment that no woodland has ever matched for me. 110
Nils Fleischhacker @cryptomaeher.bsky.social · 22/08/2026Oh yeah. That's the shit. See you in five days. 120

Nils Fleischhacker @cryptomaeher.bsky.social · 10/08/2026There comes a day in your life when you understand – rationally – that your parents will eventually die and that you'll likely be around to see it. But nothing about that prepares you for the day it happens. Bye mom, you were the best. 2100
Nils Fleischhacker @cryptomaeher.bsky.social · 01/08/2026You're not wrong. The actual problem here is that German and (British?) English disagree on what it means, with potentially hilarious, potentially disastrous consequences. 100
Nils Fleischhacker @cryptomaeher.bsky.social · 01/08/2026Half twelve clearly means that half of the twelfth hour has passed, so it's 11:30. Only an insane person would just drop important words from a phrase. Clearly you can't be trusted with a language. 110
Nils Fleischhacker @cryptomaeher.bsky.social · 31/07/2026Silly Brits. How on earth is "half twelve" 12:30 instead of 11:30? Where would I file a complaint about this silliness? 250
Nils Fleischhacker @cryptomaeher.bsky.social · 26/07/2026My kids keep singing a song about the fact that the train doesn't have any brakes¹ and I seem to be the only one concerned about this serious lapse in railway safety. ___ ¹There's apparently a kids version, not to worry. 010
Nils Fleischhacker @cryptomaeher.bsky.social · 23/07/2026For a country absolutely filled with roundabouts, the average British driver seems to be surprisingly bad at using them. 110

Nils Fleischhacker @cryptomaeher.bsky.social · 01/07/2026With a standard turn-tilt window that involves having it stuck open blocking a not insignificant part of the room. Possible? Sure. Will anyone want to do that, when more convenient options exist? Probably not. (I'm not sure how the thing would be secured in place, but I'm sure you could find a way.) 100
Nils Fleischhacker @cryptomaeher.bsky.social · 30/06/2026At least in Germany they're not banned. Nobody is selling them, because they're impossible to use with our windows, but nobody would stop you. The good option that currently exists are portable split units. Those work pretty well with almost any window set up and are much more efficient. 120
Nils Fleischhacker @cryptomaeher.bsky.social · 26/06/2026I love your videos man, but wtf are you talking about? Knocking a window sized hole through a load bearing brick wall is not something you do with "basic carpentry skills". It is much, *much* easier to install a mini-split, than to do what you suggest here. 0120

Nils Fleischhacker @cryptomaeher.bsky.social · 15/05/2026Rome Termini had 29 platforms and they tell you which one your train is leaving from the exact moment your train is arriving. So now everybody needs to rush along the platform to board at the exact same time the previous passengers are deboarding. Who came up with this insanity? 010
Nils Fleischhacker @cryptomaeher.bsky.social · 15/05/2026I have many complaints about Deutsche Bahn, but at least they do their best to tell you the platform your train is leaving from in advance. This is absolute madness. 210
