and if you actually read this, thank you for coming to my brainspew tedtalk...my brain needed to add context before i post any random sidlani nsfw LMAO. the drk yaoi has layers you have to understand <--words of a deranged lunatic

avery @cryoniis.bsky.social · 23/01/2026

as for how lani'li's drk arc reaches its head. i technically haven't gotten through through it yet in msq but it is . A very extreme crashout, to say the least. And i will keep it at that for now . smiles.

110

avery @cryoniis.bsky.social · 23/01/2026

i do have more thoughts for the drk quest characters later on too. at this point I'm probably just dragging rielle and sid into lani'li's version of msq. their asses are NOT ALLOWED TO LEAVE!!

110

avery @cryoniis.bsky.social · 23/01/2026

his walls around sid far quicker than he otherwise might've. tldr: two edgy freaks who crave the warmth of companionship and blame themselves for the death of the person closest to them end up relying on each other instead. Some Would Say, perhaps a bit Too Much.

110

avery @cryoniis.bsky.social · 23/01/2026

show up, and it's almost *too* easy to imagine lani'li as someone who can pack that wound for him. and lani'li, who is still trying to process haurchefant's death, gravitates towards the closest person who can offer him warmth and affection. residual feelings from his soulstone lead him to dropping-

110

avery @cryoniis.bsky.social · 23/01/2026

things start to get a bit...hazy, there. this is where my wolsid worms come in lmao. both lani'li and sidurgu are seeking comfort for a recent grief that they don't really want to share with each other; sid, grieving over fray's death, sees This Fucking Guy with fray's sword and soulstone-

110

avery @cryoniis.bsky.social · 23/01/2026

refuses to communicate with them about his current state. also because thancred and him are butting heads constantly lmao.) the way i imagine it, lani'li's drk soulstone has quite a few of fray's memories instilled within it, just beneath the surface; and because lani'li is in such a fragile state-

110

avery @cryoniis.bsky.social · 23/01/2026

this is what leads to the ACTUAL drk lvl 50-60 quests starting. at this point, though, lani'li's mental health is still getting worse. he spends a lot of time with sid and rielle, staying with them more than the scions, as things with them have gotten a bit tense (mostly because lani'li-

110

avery @cryoniis.bsky.social · 23/01/2026

much about dark knights and their traditional methods until he meets sidurgu. in story this happens a few weeks after the end of 3.0; lani'li is cornered by a ragtag group of angry citizens and temple knights, who accuse him of heresy, and sid steps in to help lani'li fight them off.

110

avery @cryoniis.bsky.social · 23/01/2026

haurche's death, the cracks begin to show, and it's ysayle's sacrifice that pushes him over the edge into having his first "communion" with his esteem. (i wrote a thing for it, I'll have to share it at some point...) he's able to communicate with his esteem more after that, but he doesn't learn-

110

avery @cryoniis.bsky.social · 23/01/2026

he's kind of just DOING it. he picks up fray's soulstone near the start of hw, and lani'li believes that he simply left the stone alongside fray's corpse and left; but he's had the stone on his person the whole time. his subconscious mind has stubbornly been trying to block it out, but after-

120

avery @cryoniis.bsky.social · 23/01/2026

lani'li is in a BAD spot after the end of heavensward. failure on failure left him vulnerable, and it was the fight in azys lla that he officially fights as a "dark knight" for the first time. i use quotations because he doesn't follow the actual drk quest (in the traditional sense) and so-

avery @cryoniis.bsky.social · 23/01/2026

i haven't posted much so here's a quick interest update. i had a realization and since i've been working on the post-hw section of lani'li's story/msq i have fallen Deeply into the DRK job quest obsession pit. the edgelords will not stop plaguing me. might make this a thread to share my thoughts hmm

personally i think there should be infinite hours in the day specifically so you can draw porn outside of work. in my beautiful world this would be true and i would not accidentally be up until 4am doing that instead
