Game 46 #Mets Thoughts: - They finally did the thing in the 9th - So much bad that should have cost them the game - TYRONE TAYLOR, MY WORD - This team is not going to go quietly - 5-1 homestand is exactly what they needed - Go to WAS and MIA and keep this train moving

Chris Schubert @crschube.bsky.social · 17/05/2026

Game 45 #Mets Takeaways: - Holy smokes, these games are intense - Carlos Rodon, thx - LUKE WEAVER IS A DUDE - Vientos, I see you - Carson Benge, maybe we don't - This team needs to use its speed more

Game 44 #Mets Thoughts: - Just tip your cap to Schlittler - Holmes fractured fibula SUCKS HARD - Two out runs are just KILLER - Have to get more than Soto - Bo and MJ are giving you NOTHING right now

#Mets Game 43 Thoughts: - AJ Ewing keeps impressing - Nolan McLean, FIRE ME UP - Baty and Vientos don't want to be forgotten - Soto okay and HITTING HOMERS - Vibes are the best they've been all season - BRING ON THE YANKEES

030

Chris Schubert @crschube.bsky.social · 13/05/2026

Game 41 #Mets Thoughts: - THAT WAS SO MUCH FUN - Vibes are back for a little bit - A.J. BLEEPING EWING (what a game) - EVERY STARTER GOT A HIT - Carlos, don't touch the lineup - Oh yeah, Freddy was good too

040

Chris Schubert @crschube.bsky.social · 12/05/2026

I think what makes me so encouraged that A.J. Ewing can be a spark and positive to this #Mets offense is the overall plate discipline he showed in AAA. 96th% K% 81st% Chase Rate 94th% Whiff% Plus a ton of good stuff on in his zone bat control (z-Swing% and z-Contact%)

110

Chris Schubert @crschube.bsky.social · 12/05/2026

Calling up Ewing was the right choice for the #Mets. Couldn't be taken seriously with this current group of bats. It may not work, but Ewing is a top prospect and is having a great year. Very well worth the dart throw. Needed to be willing to be bold/aggressive.

Chris Schubert @crschube.bsky.social · 11/05/2026

Boy yesterday was about as low as I've felt in a long time as a #WestHam fan. But, after that draw. It's still possible. The great escape can still be on.

Chris Schubert @crschube.bsky.social · 11/05/2026

I'm sorry. I know it's been bad, but I refuse to give up on a season on May 10th. And they feel the same. Some of these issues ARE fixable.

100

Chris Schubert @crschube.bsky.social · 10/05/2026

Haven't done it all season, but let's bring it back. #Mets Game 40 Notes: - What an unserious team - Austin Slater, 3-hitter should not happen - Top 3 in the lineup didn't get a hit all weekend - Just zero fight, like they expect the pain - Third error was the charm - BRING ME EWING AND MORABITO

Chris Schubert @crschube.bsky.social · 10/05/2026

Another month and this season is over. Robert/Lindor/Polanco ain't coming back anytime soon. It's time to be a little more aggressive.

100

Chris Schubert @crschube.bsky.social · 10/05/2026

We've got Ewing and Morabito hitting the cover off the ball in Syracuse and Austin Slater is hitting 3rd today. I hope that once the #Mets get home from this road trip, they shake up the offense a bit because this isn't serious.

Chris Schubert @crschube.bsky.social · 07/05/2026

This lineup pains me on so many different levels.

000

Chris Schubert @crschube.bsky.social · 28/01/2026

The #Jets are on a collision course with needing a new GM/HC in 11 months, after the current GM/HC spend $100m+ in cap and use 4 top 45 picks. All for the next GM/HC to probably want a different direction. What a mess.

000

Chris Schubert @crschube.bsky.social · 27/01/2026

There's plenty of time and an entire off-season for this take to evolve, but so far Aaron Glenn isn't giving off the vibe of a coach that's learning from his rookie season. #Jets

000

Chris Schubert @crschube.bsky.social · 22/01/2026

I think after the flurry of moves in the past couple of days, the #Mets are mostly done. But if they were going to add, I would: - Get another LF option to go into camp with - Bring in another arm to compete for the last couple of bullpen spots (probably two or three spots available)

Mets make two MASSIVE trades: Robert, Peralta

Chris Schubert @crschube.bsky.social · 22/01/2026

It was a lot to give up (two top-100 prospects) but Freddy Peralta is an ACE that isn't normally available. The #Mets are a much better team than last year, and this is why you let the whole offseason play out.

Chris Schubert @crschube.bsky.social · 21/01/2026

My guess is the bench looks something like: Torrens/Taylor/Mauricio/TBD. That could be Vientos. Could be a lefty bat they had. I think ideally they would like Benge to get SOME time in Syracuse, unless he absolutely CRUSHES in spring.

100

Chris Schubert @crschube.bsky.social · 21/01/2026

Could also flip Baty and Robert in the lineup if you want. That top 4 feels pretty set in stone, with the bottom group being some combination of matchup proofing/whoever is hot at the top getting more AB's.

000

Chris Schubert @crschube.bsky.social · 21/01/2026

My guess at the #Mets lineup post-Robert trade: Lindor SS Soto RF Bichette 3B Polanco 1B Robert CF Alvarez C Baty LF Vientos DH Semien 2B Obviously still some movement could happen with Bellinger to shift things around, or Benge could still factor in here.

Unfortunately, #Mets deserve to lose this one when they hold the Dodgers to ZERO in the 10th, 11th and 12th and don't score themselves.

Chris Schubert @crschube.bsky.social · 22/05/2025

Game 50 #Mets thoughts: - New lineup - Marte shouldn't be hitting 2nd - BRETT BATY - Those first 4 innings from Megill were electric - Brazoban might be the Mets best reliever - Asking Acuna to bunt was stupid - The #Knicks collapse is worse than anything the Mets have done in the last week

220

Chris Schubert @crschube.bsky.social · 21/05/2025

Game 49 #Mets thoughts: - OOF - How do they not take advantage of Buehler getting tossed? - Holmes 5 HR may be the start of something concerning - The at-bats were just lifeless - While I worry about doing too much, I wonder if we start to see lineup tinkering

Chris Schubert @crschube.bsky.social · 21/05/2025

I mean, after Buehler gets tossed, you kinda HAVE to win this game now. #Mets

Chris Schubert @crschube.bsky.social · 21/05/2025

That Nimmo play is one of those plays we look back on if the #Mets start to get hot in this game.

Chris Schubert @crschube.bsky.social · 20/05/2025

Game 48 #Mets Thoughts: - That was the best nine the Mets have offensively, and they just can't get the big hit - The Soto discourse is already tiresome - Senga battled to give the team a chance - Alonso is just thinking too much right now - Team just isn't crisp rn (we FORGOT the Pitch Com!?)

021

Chris Schubert @crschube.bsky.social · 19/05/2025

Game 47 #Mets thoughts: - This team has ZERO margin for error right now - Baty should probably be the 3B with Vientos at DH - Just hate to lose this series when Judge is quiet by his standards - Pete has started to struggle - Team does have the right medicine to fix this: Senga going tomorrow

110

Chris Schubert @crschube.bsky.social · 17/05/2025

Game 46 #Mets Thoughts: - A gritty, team win - This bullpen continues to be awesome - Is Edwin Diaz, back? - Defense wins championships - These games have been a lot of fun, energy wise - Offense still is a worry

Game 45 #Mets Thoughts: - I'm good on the Tylor Megill Experience - I loved Soto's composure tonight - Give me all the games with this type of energy - Bats have been cold since the Cubs series - Good to force NYY to use Weaver in the 9th - It might be time to have a Marte conversation

Game 44 #Mets Thoughts: - Another rain start for Clay Holmes - He wasn't sharp tonight (2 HR's) - Not sharp across the board (Azocar caught at 1B, Pete trying to stretch a 2B) - Hey, good idea to use this for CF reps for Acuna - For all the scrappy the last two days, none left in the tank tonight

Chris Schubert @crschube.bsky.social · 14/05/2025

Couple takeaways from David Stearns meeting with the #Mets media: - Not surprising that he mentioned defense as an area of improvement - Continues to downplay the timetable on Mauricio - Really good answer about the noise that at-bats w/RISP can be on a day-to-day basis

040

Chris Schubert @crschube.bsky.social · 14/05/2025

It's just a leaked version that hasn't been confirmed, but the NFL putting Jets/Steelers Week 1 is some great soap opera/WWE booking there.

Chris Schubert @crschube.bsky.social · 14/05/2025

Game 43 #Mets Thoughts: - The Ghost Fork, that is all - Brandon Nimmo, defensive wizard in LF - A very weird Lindor night - BRETT BATY IS ON FIRE - Why did Vientos keep playing with that glove? - Yup, Ryne Stanek is BACK - The Mets win two straight scrappy games, love to see it

260

Chris Schubert @crschube.bsky.social · 13/05/2025

Game 42 #Mets Thoughts: - David Peterson didn't have the blowup inning - Paul Skenes wasn't at his best, and was still difficult to crack - Saw Lindor/Soto/Alonso magic there in the 9th; that was fun - Won with the B-level relievers (and Nunez in the 8th!) - Just a scrappy win

2152

Chris Schubert @crschube.bsky.social · 12/05/2025

This is why it was foolish to freak out over Baty sitting yesterday. When the Mets have a GB pitcher on the mound, it's going to open up pathways for Vientos/McNeil/Baty/Acuna to ALL play.

000

Chris Schubert @crschube.bsky.social · 25/02/2025

Imagine doubting David Stearns.

000

Chris Schubert @crschube.bsky.social · 22/01/2025

Glenn always made the most season to me for the #Jets. 1) Former player w/ team 2) Culture guy 3) Was everything the fans thought they wanted with a Rex return Just made too much sense.

000

Chris Schubert @crschube.bsky.social · 20/01/2025

Yeah, this does feel a little spoiled child take after the #Mets signed Juan Soto. It just feels like they still have too many ? on their roster for a team that was two wins away from the WS last year.

Chris Schubert @crschube.bsky.social · 30/12/2024

Not calling that timeout after hitting the first play wasted their ability to have two more plays at the end. Just awful clock management.
