Version 0.0.9 of the EYG CLI is out now, with an updated guide on writing scripts. eyg.run/guides/writi... Let me know how it works and bonus points if you send me the identifier of your shared script.

Writing scripts

Write scripts to run on your computer.

A spike of adding Query literals to eyg.run With literals the table names are fields are in the language in a way that allows the type checker to work with them. Literals are constrained enough so they can be compiled to SQL make use of the query planner.

You can use eyg.run as an embedded scripting environment inside the BEAM. Expose a safe subset of your applications functionality as managed effects to the script. You can also expose an unsafe subset of the application the choice is yours.

EYG is a great choice of language for agents. Types and effects give strong feedback. Here I've implemented tools that the agent can use to create HTML artifacts and lay them out using a tiling window manager.

030

Peter Saxton @crowdhailer.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

EYG now has syntax highlight, and I think it looks kinda nice. This is a much of a surprise to me as anyone else. I've never given much though to the syntax beyond adding the minimum I need at any moment.

@dsyme.bsky.social we chatted at the AI event in London a few weeks back. I was the guy looking to organize the next Gleam conference in London, didn't go with Kings in the end but it's nearby. Didn't manage to find an email for you. you can find mine on GH if you'd like to.

I want you, yes, YOU, to submit a talk. Please go up there and present whatever small project you've been working on. And if you feel terrified at the prospect of speaking in front of a small crowd, reach out to me and let's work something out.

I've been thinking a lot about side effects. Gleam doesn't have any extensible data types so I had been working with an unsatisfactory solution. Now I've read up on continuations properly I think I have a satisfactory solution. crowdhailer.me/2026-07-15/a... Let me know how good my explanation is.
