Honestly, the thing about this book that makes me the most mad about this book is that it made clear to me that I am the type of person who would have said yes to a sudden out-of-left-field proposal if I was sufficiently startled by it. That’s apparently all it takes. How embarrassing!

I went into a fugue state and cartooned my feelings at reading this passage. I have floppy dark hair and round glasses. My head is tilted back, my mouth wide open, steam billowing out of it looking like a smoke stack. Mr Darcy’s words hang prominently around me.
