iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

Shouldn't nicknames be like hats? You wear it until it wears out and then find another one? Of course, I say that as someone who's been wearing a Red Sox hat for five decades.

Were computers a mistake?

Late 50s software engineer here. I'm currently on the second draft of a fantasy novel that I have been working on for 4 years now. I love it. No one will ever see it aside from friends and family, but there are few things that I am happier about. Tell your story, even if it's to the wind.

I'm grateful that I am old enough to remember when we all hated Monday for not being the weekend instead of hating every day because of...you know...everything.

We made it through losing Bowie and Prince and Carrie Fischer all in one year. I'm somewhat confident that we can get through this, too.

Few will be as wealthy. Very few will be as talented. But we can ALL be as kind, compassionate and generous. We can.

It was excellent, and I am left with the contradictory feelings that it was perfect/I wish there was more.

That cover is an all time great, and the description sounds incredible. Purchsing...

We were warned. A long time ago, but as usual, no one listens to Cassandra, even when Cassandra was IBM.

I am closer to 60 than I am 50, and I found a new job this year, but the job hunt has gotten discernibly more difficult. Once AI is no longer subsidized at all, those of us who can code using just our brains and hands will be very employable.

Why are the typos SO OBVIOUS after I hit the send button?

They they that we'll pay for a sad spin-off of one of the saddest shows in network history. The hell?

I'm guessing that 'Puzur-Numushda' translates as 'Twenty-one."

It is probably a reassuring activity for people who don't really think much and want some sort of tangible evidence to the contrary.

Five years after writing the first page, I am currently working on the second draft of a novel, and I have to say this hits hard.

I read this book frequently to all three of my kids, and we all loved it.

John Cho! Yeah, I'll buy that. He has a great threatening/judgemental stare that would work well for Avon. You are now in charge of the BBC.

There are 3 to 4 Adam Crosslands in the UK who consistently use my gmail address for everything that they sign up for, including COVID test results. Nothing to be done.

I was very content with the monthly cadence. Now, it feels like they are desperate to get the latest agentic token-nuker features out as soon as literally possible.

Very sad and very true. So much power is concentrated in the hands of people who experience life in a very solipsistic way. No empathy or compassion or ability to connect to others.

A reminder for people who miss the experience of going to Blockbuster to browse the rows of VHS & DVD's- libraries carry a selection of new & old films. You'd be surprised what you can find just visiting a place that will loan you books. They also have digital services. Support your local library.

"Multi-modal agentic self-supervised latent-space singularity." I have been a professional software engineer for over 30 years, so it takes a lot of empty babble to impress me, but damn...I'm saving that one for later use.
