Almost $4200 for an 8TB SSD ... The same drive is around, $3100 on Amazon and "on sale" for $2500 on Newegg The 4TB is ~$900 on Amazon & Newegg but given that the Samsung website is in the thousands for those too I guess it'll be going up as well. Don't worry tho AI will cure cancer or something

Teen-by-default settings to roll out globally for all Discord users, enhancing age-appropriate protections while maintaining privacy, community, and meaningful connection on the platform

SAN FRANCISCO, February 9, 2026 – Discord is announcing enhanced teen safety features rolling out globally that reinforce its long-standing commitment to creating a safer and more inclusive experience for users over the age of 13. As part of this update, all new and existing users worldwide will have a teen-appropriate experience by default, with updated communication settings, restricted access to age-gated spaces, and content filtering that preserves the privacy and meaningful connections that define Discord.

Beginning with a phased global rollout to new and existing users in early March, users may be required to engage in an age-verification process to change certain settings or access sensitive content. This includes age-restricted channels, servers, or commands and select message requests.

Clarification on our approach to age assurance

We’ve seen some questions about our age assurance update and we want to share more clarity. We know how important these changes are to our community.

Here’s what we want you to know:

Discord is not requiring everyone to complete a face scan or upload an ID to use Discord.
The vast majority of people can continue using Discord exactly as they do today, without ever being asked to confirm their age.

You need to be an adult to access age-restricted experiences such as age-restricted servers and channels or to modify certain safety settings.

For the majority of adult users, we will be able to confirm your age group using information we already have. We use age prediction to determine, with high confidence, when a user is an adult. This allows many adults to access age-appropriate features without completing an explicit age check.

When additional confirmation is required, we offer multiple privacy-forward options through trusted partners.

Facial scans never leave your device. Discord and our vendor partners never receive it.
IDs are used to get your age only and then deleted.
Discord only receives your age — that’s it. Your identity is never associated with your account.

We hope this helps to clarify some of your questions. This work is important because building a safer Discord requires a thoughtful approach alongside the communities who make Discord special. Over the coming weeks, we will be sharing additional information and FAQs in this blog with more details on our approach.

6 broken GBAs purchased: I managed to repair 4 of them simply by doing a deep clean of the motherboards. Then I broke one of the ones I had repaired because I went a little overboard trying to make it ✨perfect✨ SO I have 3 working GBAs ready for modding! Parts are on the way.

My new hobby is modding old Nintendo controllers. This mod takes the original N64 controller and makes it wireless! Also it replaces the old joystick which, while nostalgic, didn't survive after a dozen or so games of Mario Party 😅

FFXIV is another game I started taking more seriously this year and my main focus was on player housing. I've been working on my crafting jobs and focusing on making money to buy more stuff for my lot. It's been really fun!
