Just want to point out - as a Black Muslim - that it was a Black Muslim, @fff_zulqarnain that raised the flag for Sudan, and Palestine in the midst of a celebration of American Blackness. Like Malcolm, Muhammad Ali, and countless enslaved African Muslim rebels, he carried the Standard. Salute.

Seeing protests shut down the 101 LA, and scream freedom in the face of ICE in TX, casts us back to beautiful solidarity of the Floyd uprisings in ‘20 & Free Palestine protests in ‘24. It is a visible, visceral reminder of what they most fear- our solidarity. No amount of repression can defeat it.

Black, Palestinian, and Latin liberation are eternally linked. So too are the struggles of the working masses whose sweat and blood fuel the systems that kill, exploit, and demean us all. But, as Kwame Toure put it, people often mobilize around issues, REVOLUTIONARIES ORGANIZE AGAINST SYSTEMS.

Mobilization without organization against police violence, has given us more more people murdered by police in every year since 2020. Our failure to organize for independent political POWER has prolonged unspeakable genocide. And I fear mobilization alone again will not protect our immigrant kin.

The Democratic genocide in Gaza has conditioned this Trump moment. It made Dems permanently unelectable, and fully normalized police-state repression of dissent. There is nothing Trump is going to try on us that we haven’t already approved- on Palestinians. Imperial boomerang, incoming.

Malcolm and Martin disagreed over nonviolence as a moral philosophy. But as the end of their respective lives drew near, the distance that had separated them in other ways narrowed. Both men had grown to see international anti-capitalist anti-imperialism as crucial to Black-and human-liberation.

Private, for-profit, insurance companies are inherently predatory. Private companies making profits from public services (like healthcare or fire insurance) by definition makes the products more expensive and inefficient, because instead of being run to maximize benefit, they must maximize profit.

Incarcerated people comprise 30 percent of all wildland firefighting crews in California. LA gave more money to cops and cut fire budgets because it’s cheaper to lock people up and use them for slave labour than it is to hire fire fighters on a living wage. They are being paid $5.80-$10.24 per day.
