it is truly baffling how he can be so negative in every demographics group but still have THAT much of an overwhelming support from Republicans. like, just numbers wise, it's crazy.

It’s so cool that every website is just Like This now. We used to send guys to the chair for putting pop-up ads on their sites. Now if I want to read something I have to read single lines between autoplaying video ads that use so much RAM they force the browser to reload every 5 seconds.
A page on Destructoid, so loaded with ads that no actual text or content is visible

No-strings-attached, zero-means-testing, no-questions-asked cash payouts have been proven, over and over again, to be the most effective form of charity/aid going. It gets people in housing, and it saves the state money. We know this. It's fact, not theory.

because she, like all the other establishment dems, doesn't care about their supporting base. if they could press a button and make all the "moderate Republicans" vote for them in exchange for losing all the progressives, they'd do it in a heartbeat. hell, they've tried to press it every year.

I KNOW AND IT IS SO ANNOYINGGGG it was better even just a year or two ago, because game companies would always mean game AI, but now it's absolutely not clear anymore

Josh @crossboy.xyz · 26/11/2025
the internet was disruptive and also took 15-40 years to do it. on the other hand, when the internet got overhyped about its future promises, the .com bubble happened. tech takes *time* to disrupt. when people push an unproven technology too quickly and inject $$$ into it, it fails.
010
Josh @crossboy.xyz · 26/11/2025
it also makes it very difficult to look at job applications lol. an AI engineer at a game studio is 80/20 a very different thing than a software company's AI engineer lol

I mean I'm glad you are rightfully skeptical, but it's not exactly the most reassuring thing to have literally the entire US economy held hostage on the hope it'll destroy people's job prospects in the future.

yeah, obviously, but that's not how the technology is being pushed because it's not industry shaking if that's all it is. its being pushed as a dedicated coding agent that you can completely defer tasks to. and is receiving funding as if it's capable of doing that now.

Josh @crossboy.xyz · 26/11/2025
yes, that is how I use them too! (though they honestly aren't that great IMHO) but that's not how they're being pushed. they're being pushed as dedicated coding agents. which is my entire point

yeup. and lots of good is going to be taken out in the crossfire. and it's ENTIRELY on the people who blindly push it now. when people start to feel any AI is repulsive because of how it's pushed, you can't suddenly be surprised when people want to get rid of all AI.
010
Josh @crossboy.xyz · 26/11/2025
see this is the problem though. there are actually useful technologies being made. but instead of treating it like experimental early tech that needs to be refined, we are injecting trillions of dollars into it and just hoping for the best. tech bros, as always, ruin potentially interesting tech.

Josh @crossboy.xyz · 26/11/2025
you seem to be leaving out the biggest part of this. none of those things you reference pretend to be a plug-and-play instant solution. you have to use critical thinking and experience to actually utilize it. LLMs do. people think they can use it as is without needing review or critical thinking.

i love writing about crypto crime because these dudes do this constantly
Ahmed allegedly made the following search queries:

embezzled

defi hacks fbi

defi hacks prosecution

wire fraud

how to prove malicious intent

evidence laundering

can I cross border with crypto

how to stop federal government from seizing assets

buying citizenship

Criminal mastermind. However, the brothers' Google search history in the weeks after the theft for phrases including "how to wash crypto”, “top crypto lawyers”, “wire fraud statute / wire fraud statue [sic] of limitations”, and “prison or jail worse” suggest that perhaps the brothers had some clue that their actions could be interpreted criminally, as do the brothers' own descriptions of their plan as “sus”. Prosecutors, on the other hand, have pointed to his decision to buy a plane ticket out of the country the very next day, and to his Google searches for terms including "market manipulation criminal elements" and "FBI surveillance", as evidence that he knew quite well his actions were not merely "highly profitable trades".

well, I suspect we won't see any of it. because Trump conveniently asked the DOJ to reopen the investigation. and the bill that got signed specifically has an exception for anything relevant to an ongoing investigation.

Josh @crossboy.xyz · 19/11/2025
yeah they should also put up bills for anti-two-party-system voter reform too, but the current democratic party would literally never do any of this.

yeah but they don't need cover because they will literally just lie and say it's the democrats' fault regardless. you are saying they're playing 4d chess to have justification to blame Dems. but they literally will just blame them anyways. they don't need or care about a justification.

Josh @crossboy.xyz · 11/11/2025
they don't give a shit about seeming bipartisan. that's why they've tried to pass as much as possible as a "budget adjustment" so it doesn't need 60 votes. they push back against killing the filibuster because they *use* it. everyone does. and senators have to be in office longer than trump.

now, trump obviously did this by lying and tricking people, so I don't mean that the campaigns have the same integrity at all. but when you focus on convincing people why they should go vote for you, rather than why they should *pick* you, you get "unprecedented and record breaking turnout".

Josh @crossboy.xyz · 11/11/2025
mamdani did what Obama and Trump did successfully that way too many politicians don't. most politicians ask "how can I get the voters to vote for me?" and this is reflected in analysis - people blame non voters for a loss. they (among others) asked "how do I convince people TO VOTE, and for me?"

don't worry everyone! this is actually NOT a bad sign for AI and actually shows that it's stronger than ever. horray!
“This should not be seen, in our view, as a cautious or negative stance on Nvidia, but rather in the context of SoftBank needing at least $30.5bn of capital for investments in the Oct-Dec quarter, including $22.5bn for OpenAI and $6.5bn for Ampere,” Rolf Bulk, equity research analyst at New Street Research, told CNBC.

generally speaking, an appeals court could likely mandate that a different map be used unless they can prove it'd be far too burdensome, which it wouldn't be for a bit I am happy with this decision, but don't want to count the chickens before they hatch

we don't have more parties because the system makes it impossible. the US used to have more than two. then people realized it split the vote. other countries that have more than two have different voting systems to enable it. I WANT more than two. but it can't happen with this voting system.
000
Josh @crossboy.xyz · 11/11/2025
blaming voters for staying home instead of the politicians who couldn't convince them to vote is crazy everyone plays like a vote is *assumed*, not *earned*. no. you have to actually justify why someone should vote for you. and before you say it, yes, I voted for her despite this.
