🐟 @critterlingz.bsky.social · 10/10/2026These are from years upon years ago (for a sci-fantasy comic that's a bit on the back-burner now), but I still like them. I really wanna return to when I drew things like these. 032
🐟 @critterlingz.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Otherwise it might go to the space chicken revenge episode of Courage the Cowardly Dog, a show I loved, specifically because of the segment where the cartoon plunger sucked random things’ heads off 020
🐟 @critterlingz.bsky.social · 05/10/2026I read a lot of horror as a kid, but, inexplicably, I think this goes to the polluted lake from the Simpsons movie? I thought it might show up in my closet. 130
🐟 @critterlingz.bsky.social · 01/10/2026lately, I've been zooming in on a lot of really good illustrations I see to remind myself that they're rarely as clean up close as they seem when viewed in full. I'm not a very neat artist and I don't have a very steady hand, so it's really helpful 030

🐟 @critterlingz.bsky.social · 07/03/2026comparing brushes once again one of the issues with making comics vs illustrations is that (for my work specifically) optimally they have to look consistent, and consistently good, in some way, over many pages. ive been considering what style i can pull that off with 030

🐟 @critterlingz.bsky.social · 06/03/2026i used to draw a lot more monsters, and they always looked miles better than any human or animal i drew. i think part of that is that i was operating purely based on my own rules and my own ways of markmaking for them. i should find a way to go back there 010
🐟 @critterlingz.bsky.social · 06/03/2026its similar to how i really fucked myself over wrt color over the past few years. i used to have really bright, strange, subjective color schemes. then i got caught up in what would look natural or real in the real world. it looks and feels worse that way! 110
🐟 @critterlingz.bsky.social · 06/03/2026a drawing of an eye that i put out neednt look like the symbols and marks that make up the eyes other people draw. its not necessary. its hard to differentiate between how i might draw organically VS how i think shapes and images are “supposed” to look. 110
🐟 @critterlingz.bsky.social · 06/03/2026its a weird thing to be preoccupied with, but ive always had trouble separating the way i draw things from the way i believe they “should” be drawn. im too bogged-down by what i think the “symbols” that represent them look like based on other artists’ work, instead of drawing what feels natural 120
