The tricky part is, she doesn't care if you're nice to *her* (shes a warrior of light, everyone is nice because they want something), but if she sees you being kind and selfless to others, particularly kids or animals, she warms up way faster.

Eeehhhh not really. Lilith is Weird™️ and doesn't care for social niceties anymore, so it takes a special kind of patience to ignore all the cold and blunt remarks and notice the likeable parts.

Nah, its often just bad. I know one author that writes hetero fantasy romance really well, with interesting character that have actual personalities and motivations but at this point I need some new material x)

Flashback to that one vampire romance where the couple knew they were into each other by chapter 2 but the author kept pulling increasingly ridiculous deus-ex-machina situations to not allow them to bang for the rest of the book. And then it ended with a cliffhanger. I did not read the sequel.
