The shift from industrial to post-industrial did not just take place on the macro-economic scale. At the scale of the household, our grandparents knew how to repair appliances that we cannot understand today. Just as neoliberalism *de-industrialized* our society, AI is *de-intellectualizing* us.
“Part of how A.I. is making us dumber,” says Dr. Adam Green, a cognitive neuroscientist at Georgetown University, is “undercutting the development of learning how to think in younger people that now have an alternative.”

ICE aims to hire 5000 more kidnappers. While @nytimes.com journalists wring their hands about whether these officers will be "properly vetted," we maintain that no one has the right to kidnap or brutalize. Disrupt their recruiting events. Let recruits know the price of terrorizing communities.

A similar surge last year resulted in undervetted officers initially being let in and then removed as the agency skipped basic checks for new recruits.

When we were being tear gassed in Ferguson, it was Palestinian people who first taught us how to treat tear gas exposure. The same manufacturer that produced the chemical weapon that choked & burned our people in our communities produced the same teargas deployed on Palestinians.

Following up our coverage of current anti-ICE flashpoints around the country, we recommend this online public meeting featuring organizers from anti-ICE and anti-border fights that are underway in Arizona, Minnesota, Vermont, and Austin, Texas. Full information about the event is in the alt text.
⁨📷⁩ ⁨PLEASE SHARE PUBLICLY: On Tuesday, September 29th at 5:00pm PT and Arizona/6:00pm MT/7:00pm CT/8:00pm ET, Let's Go! will be hosting an Emergency Call on Anti-ICE flashpoints that are happening right NOW. Joining us will be those on the ground from four current struggles that have open calls for action:

-The Minnesota 15 Anti-Repression Committee, who are calling for an international day of solidarity actions on Saturday, October 3, to express support for the fifteen defendants who have been federally charged for allegedly conspiring to resist the violence of ICE;

-The National Week of Action to SHUT DOWN ICE VT from October 4-9 in Chittenden County, Vermont - ICE operations across the nation are dependent on the surveillance infrastructure in Vermont - this week of mass action aims to SHUT this nerve center DOWN;

-Activists who have been on the ground in Lochiel, Arizona where a treesit and anti-border camp have been blocking the construction of the border wall for over two months. Lochiel is one site of struggle along a 2000-mile contested border and our neighbors there are calling everyone to join them in the struggle of direct action and land defense;

-Activists from Dare to Struggle in Austin, Texas, resisting and responding to the shooting of Wilber Rafael Garcés Pérez by an ICE agent on Sunday, September 20th.

It is critical we connect and network our local struggles throughout the country to apply heat on ICE this October. Let's Go! is an organizing network that offers strategy, training and community. We move fast, share tools and trainings, and help local struggles take on national significance (https://letsgonetwork.org/).

ICE arrests have soared to record highs over the few months, as ICE agents work with cops and courts to disappear people while avoiding public visibility. We urgently need new points of intervention to make this tragedy visible and take action. Here are some starting points: crimethinc.com/MeltICE
Unlike earlier high-profile raids that drew thousands of protesters into the streets of Chicago, Los Angeles and Minneapolis, the surge in arrests in June, July and August was captured mostly by grainy security camera footage, through cracked blinds and from behind closed doors.

Arrests by Immigration and Customs Enforcement this summer soared to record highs since the start of this Trump administration — with 43,000 in June, more than 49,000 in July and nearly 51,000 in August — as officials cut or narrowed the pathways to legal residency in the United States and expanded the pool of people eligible for deportation.

There are two ways to become ungovernable. One is to seize power—the other is to abolish it. The Republicans rode to power under Donald Trump by pretending to represent rebellion. Now, they have no intention to relinquish it. It will take a real rebellion to unseat them. Nothing less.

Although the subsequent wars did eventually put Saddam Hussein out of a job—enabling the Islamic State to emerge in his wake—the fact that the Taliban remain in power today underscores the senselessness of the US response. Compared to their policies, our statement from September 2001 has aged well.

Bombings won't kill terrorists any more than they served to put
Saddam Hussein out of a job; but they do kill people, whether or not you
see them die on your television. Every innocent person affected by the
bombs we drop, the aid we provide to oppressive governments, the injustices we condone, becomes another potential terrorist. Save lives, overseas and at home--take your power out of the hands of the politicians and
the terrorists they raise. Let them know they can't count on your silence.

That’s why there are video cameras pointed at every cashier and police cars circling every block. The tech collective behind NoBlogs.org and a host of other free online initiatives has announced that they are shutting down as a consequence of the US State Department designating them a "global terrorist." This represents a significant blow to online freedom. keepitfree.ai/announcement...
The day we discovered we had been designated a global terrorist organization, we promised that we would try to resist as long as this was possible, that we would not back down as long as we could see options to stand our ground. For years, we have proudly maintained and defended a free, privacy-friendly, autonomous and politically committed infrastructure.

“Stay human” is not an empty phrase to us.

It means, above all, that we have a responsibility to protect our users, those who build the human networks we rely, and for the communities who flooded us with messages of support and solidarity.Now turn off your PCs, get out of your homes, struggle, hug each other and keep on smiling. We are stopping, but the Resistance and ideas do not stop. Stay human.

We will soon send instructions on how to back up the content of your blogs, mailboxes and websites, along with more technical recommendations. But keep in mind that, just as the autistici.org domain was made unreachable without previous notice, in the next few days we might suffer similar issues that we may not be able to predict.

False. Daniel Sanchez Estrada was convicted because—at least in Texas—it is possible to convene a jury comprised of reactionaries who consider radical literature per se to be evidence of a crime. @sjshancoxli.liberalcurrents.com, you can begin to solve that problem *by ceasing to be one of them.*

No. He was convicted of tampering with evidence, because he was tampering with evidence. The sentence—30 years—is absurd.

We have a program for this specifically: crimethinc.com/books/into-l...
Books
CrimethInc. Into Libraries
Libraries are truly wonderful: free-to-use public spaces, filled with thousands of books from every gamut of human existence, existing to serve anyone who walks through their doors.

Of course, a library is only as good as the books on its shelves, and we are making every effort to get our books onto the shelves of as many libraries as possible. We have spent a fair amount of our resources towards this direction (obtaining ISBN numbers, making the books available from a major book distributor, etc.) but the final move is up to you.

Even if we had the desire, there is no way we would be able to institute a marketing campaign on the level necessary to get the attention of librarians and convince them to stock the books as is the norm in the book industry; so as usual, we are taking a nontraditional, grassroots approach that uses generosity and voluntary action in place of money and marketing sleight of hand.

Libraries are delightfully responsive to properly filled out book request slips, and in fact a fair amount of books purchased by libraries are the result of requests made by library patrons. Simply go to the library, ask for book purchase request forms and fill them out properly (see right), and odds are the library will procure the books you request. Of course, the more people who request the book at any given library, the more likely it is they will pick it up. Also, you can do this at several libraries in your city, including both public and university libraries.

As a result of your actions, anyone will be able to find out about and read these books for free, and if you ask me, I think we owe it—to all of the shy teenagers, homeless philosophers and desperate seekers—to all who are looking to the shelves for a way out of this reality. Ideas should never be held hostage by the dollar sign, and we thank you for helping us to make these free for anyone to read, in every city, in every library.

Working with anarchist artist NO BONZO, we've made a support poster to inform people about the Minneapolis 15 case. 15 people are federally charged with conspiracy for allegedly defending their neighborhoods from ICE. Please print these out and post them everywhere! crimethinc.com/posters/supp...

The US Attorney’s Office in Minneapolis has charged fifteen people with “conspiracy to impede federal officers,” accusing them of defending their neighborhoods from ICE.

Across Minnesota and all around the country, hundreds of thousands of people have come together to form rapid response networks and protect their neighbors from mercenaries who are separating parents from their children and brutalizing people regardless of their immigration status. As ICE agents murder people in the streets, federal authorities want to pretend that those who stand up to ICE represent the real threat to the public.

This prosecution is a part of NSPM-7, the Trump administration’s initiative to turn the War on Terror against “antifa”—which is to say, against anyone who opposes fascism. The goal of these charges is to intimidate people out of standing up for each other. Make no mistake, this prosecution is directed at all who do not welcome authoritarianism. If it succeeds, they will repeat this strategy again, targeting more and more people.

In the face of fascist violence, the only route to safety is collective organizing. Solidarity is self-preservation. The harder it is for them to capture today’s targets, the longer it will take them to target the rest of us.

"Anyone who speaks of revolution and class struggle without referring explicitly to everyday life—without grasping what is subversive about love and positive in the refusal of constraints—has a corpse in his mouth." —Raoul Vaneigem, The Revolution of Everyday Life brooklynrail.org/2011/12/last...

Far-right bigots pretending to care about queer lives is reminiscent of how racist misogynists in the Old South used narratives about "protecting white women" to justify attacks on Black communities. When they say "protect," they mean "dominate." Smash fascism. crimethinc.com/nationalists
Nationalists aren’t interested in protecting anyone—they just seek to justify the violence they hope to perpetrate. The rhetoric of protection is a thinly veiled threat.

As soon as the attack in Berlin occurred, a Sieg-Heiling white supremacist named Elon Musk seized the opportunity to promote deporting all non-white immigrants. Remember, within 72 hours of buying Twitter, Elon Musk was using it to spread homophobic conspiracy theories: www.them.us/story/elon-m...

ICE, police, and courts comprise a single integrated machinery of violence. "The power of the police, as the power of the FBI, the courts, and the federal government, is rooted in violence. The fact that the violence does not always come into bloody play does not alter the fact." —Dave Dellinger

The Police.

The ones who beat Rodney King, who gunned down Sean Bell and Amadou Diallo and Oscar Grant, who murdered Fred Hampton in his bed. The ones who enforced Apartheid in South Africa and segregation in the United States. The ones who broke Víctor Jara’s hands and Steve Biko’s skull, who disappeared dissidents from Argentina to Zaire, who served Josef Stalin. The ones who interrogated Black Panthers and Catholic Workers, who maintained records on 16 million people in East Germany, who track us through surveillance cameras and phone taps. The ones firing tear gas and rubber bullets whenever a demonstration gets out of hand, who back the bosses in every strike. The ones who stand between every hungry person and the grocery shelves stocked with food, between every homeless person and the buildings standing empty, between every immigrant and her family.

In every nation, in every age, you tell us you’re indispensable, that without you we’d all be killing each other. But we know well enough who the killers are. You won’t fuck with us much longer.
