If anyone wants to read more on the history of "protecting women's sports" by excluding athletes and adding invasive testing, I'd highly recommend "The Other Olympians" -- I learned so much about how fascism shaped sports debates as I put together the book's article: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Oth...

The book dives deep into the history of gender surveillance at the Olympics, especially under the Nazis and during the Cold War. It's very relevant given today's attacks on trans people's participation in sports. It also shares the lives of cool athletes like Zdeněk Koubek and Mark Weston!

You'd think that unions 🤝🏻 & the wiki ethos were perfectly aligned, not however according to the Wikimedia Foundation who are currently throwing all the union busting tools at its workers 🤯 solidarity with all those unionising.

I was raised to never cite wikipedia, but it's actually got pretty decent policies about how its own editors should cite sources inside its articles! BREAKING: Wikipedia workers in Britain are setting a global first by becoming the first group of workers at the online encyclopaedia to seek union recognition.
Infographic showing the UTAW and CWU logos and the following text:
British-based employees at the Wikimedia Foundation (WMF) have requested recognition for their union from their employer. They are organising with UTAW and have a significant majority union membership at WMF.

Today's step towards unionisation is a global first for Wikimedia workers. It comes after a period of significant change at WMF, escalating workers’ concerns over transparency, trust, and the organisation’s future direction. "Our union is proud to stand with these principled workers, who are initiating this process in the hope of creating a durable workplace grounded in transparency, accountability and participation across the WMF workforce.
We urge the organisation to meet them in this spirit of good faith and co-operation."
