@hyphyrepublic.bsky.social do you know if the Oakland PIT count is considered accurate by community groups? SF’s PIT count accuracy has been critiqued

Abolition won’t be complete until we abolish ICE, police, and prisons— replacing them with open borders, community safety teams, and centers for rehabilitation. www.instagram.com/reel/DUQxi5B...

Love the phrase, “ICE messed with the wrong profession.”

The National Nurses Union called for a week of action in honor of Pretti, who worked as an ICU nurse in a Minneapolis VA hospital. “ICE messed with the wrong profession,” the union wrote in a statement. “We nurses will fight to abolish ICE and bring about a vision for a healthy society based on nurses’ values of caring, compassion, and community.” One nurse protest took place at Oakland’s Kaiser Medical Center on Monday.

Just thought this might be important to share

Art By Jessica Jewett: I'm a Civil War historian. Most people didn't understand that we were at war until about halfway through the first year. It was thought of as the federal government stopping pockets of rebellion. I'm just saying, we could be at war right now and not fully understand it yet.

I told my boyfriend about the #CrackerBarrel controversy and he said, “Cracker is a slur for white person. So when I look at the original logo, it seems a man has kidnapped a white person and trapped them in a barrel. Therefore the original logo was more anti-racist and we should demand its return.”

Newsom isn’t just mocking the Trump playbook: he’s actually using it. The Trump-style tweets from his press office come alongside a relentless push for the criminalization of homeless encampments and other Trump-like policies. Please read this note by a homeless person on the impact of sweeps!

1) a note written by a homeless person describing how losing possessions in an encampment sweep set their savings back months

2) a photo Newsom asked the press to take of himself performing an encampment sweep

3) a recent CalMatters headline on Newsom’s 3 day limit to camping (there aren’t enough shelter beds, folks, where else have they got to go?)

4) One of Newsom’s recently praised “satire” tweets, which gets a lot more viral attention than his regular tweets.

I see the Great Recession tanks everyone, a gradual recovery from the Great Recession across multiple presidencies, and it crossing into positive shortly before the 2021 inauguration. Post 2021 the change is hard to see with naked eye, I zoomed in and I kinda saw it maybe?

They were really adamant about calling MLK Jr an extremist and he absolutely did not deny it. This is what he said:

“So the question is not whether we will be extremists, but what kind of extremists we will be. Will we be extremists for hate or for love? Will we be extremists for the preservation of injustice or for the extension of justice? In that dramatic scene on Calvary's hill three men were crucified. We must never forget that all three were crucified for the same crime--the crime of extremism. Two were extremists for immorality, and thus fell below their environment. The other, Jesus Christ, was an extremist for love, truth and goodness, and thereby rose above his environment.”
Martin Luther King Jr.

Reflecting on the recent election, I acknowledge that our campaign faced challenges in addressing the concerns of various communities. Notably, our stance on the Gaza conflict may have impacted support among Muslim and Arab-American voters.

Write an admission that supporting Palestine would have won her the election in the voice of Kamala Harris, I asked chatgbt
