Please follow back and share information. I am an NP in Tennessee. I provide care weekly for people with low income, uninsured, immigrants, and refugees. The US healthcare system is broken and likely to get even worse. Public Health is a human right.

I provide healthcare for refugees in the US from all over the world. These people are not taking away or driving up housing costs or stealing jobs. Many of them are just trying to live.

I was already regarded as kind of a “weird kid” at my school and in my hometown and this didn’t really help with that, lol. But I would do it again and again. I am so proud of my young self for advocating for an unpopular but important cause. Tell your kid that it’s ok to speak their truth. ❤️

The experience was both exhilarating and terrifying, but I learned from it how to present myself and my ideas to others whether they agreed with me or not, argue/debate in a rational and polite way with people who disagreed with my viewpoint, and maintain poise under enormous pressure.

I must have at least made a decent, if unpopular, argument for my proposal because I was chosen to go to the national Youth Legislature conference and present my “Bill” there in front of high school students from all over the country. Required making a presentation in front of about 1000 people.

I was a Freshman or Sophomore at a private school in a small town in Mississippi in the 1980s. Lol. I laugh now at how radical I must have seemed, but it just made sense to me. I couldn’t imagine how people could be opposed to this.

RU 486, now known as mifepristone, eventually was approved in the US for medical abortions when combined with misoprostol, offering a safer and less expensive and invasive option for terminating pregnancy.

My proposal was to legalize a medication that had been developed in France and was safely being used in Europe at the time, RU-486 (Roussel-Uclaf 486), to facilitate medical abortions rather than surgical abortions.Thereby reducing costs and risks to the pregnant person and protecting their privacy

Sending good vibes and much support. When I was in HS in Mississippi around 1986 I joined the state’s Youth Legislature (like mock Congress). Everyone had to write a Bill and present/argue it on the floor of either the state Senate or House floor in front of all the other participants.
