I had a hotel booking that was non-refundable from before ze breakup, so I asked my sister if she wanted a weekend trip. She came with and we had a lovely, soft, goofy weekend in London catching up on stuff and treating ourself to fancy breakfast. Still sad, but feel much better after that

"UK to announce tougher stance against Israel", real shit????

Ed Miliband will announce what he has described as a broad reset of the UK’s relations with Israel on Tuesday, promising the government will take a more active approach in supporting the Palestinian cause.

In an intervention that is expected to draw fierce criticism from the US and Israel, the foreign secretary will impose a UK ban on the trade in goods and some services from illegal Israeli settlements.

He has also told civil society groups he is determined to reassert support for a two-state solution to the conflict with an appeal for the protection of Palestinian rights and respect for international law.

Do you see that, the stray starling? stealing at a left fry?
Did you see her slipping down from the heavens, to this seaside pocket?
All bismuth bright in her black plume's glinting,
in the light's catching through the clouds –
Certain, in her chipped-paint prancing
Commanding, from a napkin hilltop
The song of unheard ages,
The universe announcing itself, through her smallest tongue,
A hundred names of kingfisher, and babe, and petrol engine in opera
Did you hear how she took yours with her?
When she rose again to cloud murmuration,
Announced your place in the world, to a chorus of lesser angels,
And a hundred yellow beaks, dancing in divine brushstroke, cried out at once –
'Hark! The world grows yet bigger'

Did you hear them, under your skin, how she spoke of everything?
And do you now see the delight in your own colours?
And have you found – at last, at long last – your voice?

A Sonnet for Brigid
If the ages stone-tumble through tides of changing kings,
Then she is the rock upholding the old Irish sea,
And her name, in all it's forms — why, so prettily it rings,
in a Catholic church or a heathen's hymn, equally.

Dagda-child, mother, shepherd sweet, she knows well the meaning,
of change, and the winter, for the lambs, and its fathoms depth.
For some say, is was she, in her own loss, that birthed keening.
And yet in quiet rooms, her flame is still by new bards kept:

"I'll lay my barest skin upon your forge, to be undone,
If you'll hammer me, songfully, whole, whole, and whole again,
Render me comet-fire, meteoric rising, by the meter of your tongue,
And I'll dance my ashen grief into soft earth, and new fen."

Beloved as the land, older than the trees of Brittany,
Muse of poets, Saint Brigid, Bride, Brig, lady evergreen.
