This is the game where i first discovered motion controls were better for aiming. Now i refuse to aim in games without them.

Its not really a controller issue. Its a per game implementation issue. Gyro on re4 on ps5 is. Terrible, but then you swap to re9 on the same console and controller and the gyro is excellent.

Im concerned cause re4r had legendarily bad gyro on PS4, and Im worried they’re gonna keep it as it. But RE8 also had bad gyro. So if they fixed it there they could fix it in 4R

I recommend waiting for a review. Capcom’s gyro implementation is hilariously inconsistent.

To look at an example of this, you can try the Switch and PlayStation versions of The House of the Dead HD(post patch) those control excellently and never need to recalibrate.

Crashy @crash40.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
Recenter≠calibration. Aiming doesnt need recalibration. U only need calibration when ur control a 3D object like in Skyward sword But for aiming, pressing one button recenters immediately. To continue the mouse comparison, recenter = lifting your mouse and putting it in the center of the mouse pad

Did you use gyro to play Sin & Punishment, or did you connect a real Wiimote to Dolphin?

Crashy @crash40.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
The thing about gyro is that people tend to misuse it. it only “feels” bad on Galaxy is because people treat it as a pointer, but not. Its an air mouse If ur not l trying to point at the screen and move your controller independent of the cursors position on screen(like a mouse)it feels MUCH better.

Not entirely correct. This was somewhat true in the Wii era. But now, the main use of motion controls isnt immersion. Its accuracy. The most popular use or motion controls right now is gyro aim. Which is much more accurate than analog sticks.

Lots of games were improved by the motion controls tho

You can start with any 2D of the games released after Super. They all hold up exceptionally well. Super is peak, but controls a bit weird, so you’d have to get used to it. The Prime games are also fantastic, but those you should play in order. And that last one is only just ok.

Crashy @crash40.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
Thats not entirely true. Motion is gaining popularity as an aiming method since its objectively more accurate than sticks. So much so that even PS and PC games are adopting it natively Accessibility wise, they let ppl with thumb mobility issues aim in a much more interactive way than auto aim.

Crashy @crash40.bsky.social · 08/09/2026
How good or not it is, is gonna vary from game to game and whatever settings are used. id recommend games with built in gyro and “hold to aim” rather than always on. My recommendation is trying them in the shooting gallery minigame in OOT. Its what first sold me on them(on 3DS)and its low stakes.

Crashy @crash40.bsky.social · 08/09/2026
In splatoon theyre optional. Theyre just leaps and bounds better, so not using them puts you at a disadvantage. Have you ever actually tried to use motion controls? They are genuinely mouse level once you get used to them.
100
Crashy @crash40.bsky.social · 08/09/2026
Yeah. Once you get used to them, theyre mouse level accurate. Because, they ARE essentially an air mouse. That being said, too many games have wonky or poor implementation.
000
Crashy @crash40.bsky.social · 08/09/2026
That’s bad for games with always on motion, like shooters. But in a game like this, in my experience, having to hold down a button+focusing on a target, naturally tenses your body. Which steadies your hand My advice is try them in the shooting gallery mini games i mentioned. Since its low stakes.
000
Crashy @crash40.bsky.social · 08/09/2026
Yeah, but you should actually give them a shot. Despite their poor reputation, theyre actually way more accurate than analog sticks for aiming. OoT 3D was actually the game that sold me on them cause it made the shooting gallery mini games so much easier.

Don’t know why Nintendo even bothers “announcing” motion controls as a feature anymore. Every single Nintendo game with any sort of aiming has had them for almost 10 years. Its basically a given feature, like having graphics.

Crashy @crash40.bsky.social · 05/09/2026
Wait so you just want someone to make a game for free? How exactly does that make money?

Crashy @crash40.bsky.social · 04/09/2026
The motion controls for aiming the bow are fantastic tho. The problem is that turning them on also turns on the sword conbat waggle and you cant use the pro controller gyro to aim. I hot they address that in a patch.

Gyro aim
010
Crashy @crash40.bsky.social · 30/08/2026
This is neat, but i feel is too situational. Motion controls for camera control are more effective for almost every other situation
000
Crashy @crash40.bsky.social · 29/08/2026
That era did massive damage to the reputation of motion controls. Modern motion controls(gyro aim) are objectively more accurate than sticks and should be an industry standard. But the bad rep from that era has kept gyro from catching on. Ppl STILL cite Lair as to why all motion controls are bad

Crashy @crash40.bsky.social · 28/08/2026
If yiu play any game with aiming, you should give them a shot. I know they get a bad rep, but they’re legitimately mouse level accurate once you get used to them.

Crashy @crash40.bsky.social · 28/08/2026
This game has normal gyro aim. This is just a new experimental feature they added. This is called “Motion sensor weapons control” but below that theres “motion sensor camera control” which is regular gyro aim. CoF has had proper gyro support since 2022 and it even has flick stick.
000
Crashy @crash40.bsky.social · 27/08/2026
Honestly, motion controled aiming is no longer a gimmick and should be the standard aiming method in games. But when devs put dumb gimmicky motion stuff in games, it goves the wrong impression and makes ppl think all motion controls are bad.
000
Crashy @crash40.bsky.social · 24/08/2026
It actually does have gyro! CoD has had gyro on PS and PC since 2022.

Every third person resident evil game on the Switch has motion controls(except re4 lmao)

If you have a Switch, go with that version. The motion controls great for the brush, but can be annoying for combat. The switch has the beat of both versions. Motion controls for the brush, and regular controls for the combat. Plus the touch screen is also great for the brush.

Crashy @crash40.bsky.social · 13/08/2026
Have you ever tried gyro aim?
100
Crashy @crash40.bsky.social · 11/08/2026
I think thats might be a good choice, but not for the reasons that you think. After getting used to the motion brush strokes, drawing with an analog stick now feels actively bad. So by avoiding the version with the good controls, you might avoid ruining the regular version for yourself.
100
Crashy @crash40.bsky.social · 11/08/2026
Ok thats fair. Imo, those were so infrequent, and the aiming was so much better, its a good trade-off
010
Crashy @crash40.bsky.social · 11/08/2026
How did the motion controls hamper Prime 3? The consensus back then was they made the aiming way better.
100
Crashy @crash40.bsky.social · 11/08/2026
Motion controls make the brush stuff WAY better. And the Switch version also has motion controls for the brush. So you don’t have to deal with the waggle on the wii version.
110
Crashy @crash40.bsky.social · 11/08/2026
At leas the aiming was tolerable. I cant imagine doing the STAR minigame without motion control aiming
000
Crashy @crash40.bsky.social · 06/08/2026
Why with the classic controller tho? The pointer works so much better
110
Crashy @crash40.bsky.social · 06/08/2026
Maybe it’s the input lag introduced by emulation? Rail shooters are the 1 thing the wii did better than any other console and i just couldn’t play them on dolphin.
000
Crashy @crash40.bsky.social · 06/08/2026
Sure its funny, but the aiming in this version is so unironically amazing, its gonna suck playing the game any other way.
000
Crashy @crash40.bsky.social · 01/08/2026
Ok but why “hate” thats such an intense response to an input method. Especially one with an objective advantage. Kinda like saying “i hate aiming with a mouse” or “i hate D-pads for 2D games”
101
Crashy @crash40.bsky.social · 01/08/2026
S&P is universally recognized as one of the greatest rail shooters ever made. The biggest critique ppl have for the Wii version of RE 4 is that the controls were so good it made the game too easy Maybe youre doing something wrong? Or you had a defective controller/poor lighting conditions?
100
Crashy @crash40.bsky.social · 01/08/2026
The dev for S&P wanted to make a very hard game. But when they sent a prototype to Nintendo, they said it was too easy. They made the game extremely hard for analog sticks, but Nintendo was breezing through it with the pointer What was confusing? Have u played other rail shooters like time crisis?

Crashy @crash40.bsky.social · 01/08/2026
Its CRAZY how those two games are so similar, but just a few tweeks made star fox control super bad

Crashy @crash40.bsky.social · 01/08/2026
Star Fox or Sin & punishment?

Crashy @crash40.bsky.social · 29/07/2026
Back in 2022, fortnite fixed its gyro aim and added it to the PS and PC versions. Imo, thats the best gyro implementation ever.

Crashy @crash40.bsky.social · 28/07/2026
Have you tried moving from the elbows instead of the wrists?
100
Crashy @crash40.bsky.social · 27/07/2026
I think its because since the gyro can entirely cover the vertical space, the stick is just used for turning. They turn verticals off so your camera doesn’t sway up/down when you’re just turning and you don’t hit the exact 90° on the stick. Have you ever heard of a setting called “flick stick”?

Crashy @crash40.bsky.social · 27/07/2026
While not AS easy, its still doable. You just have to increase the sensitivity slightly more than you’re used to. So you can cover more space with less irl movement.
