[Part 1 of 3] Beans aren't the villain. A new meta-analysis of 20 trials found that eating a cup of legumes daily lowers LDL cholesterol by 5% and improves fasting insulin. The 'anti-nutrient' fear is overblown.

Reading about how anxious someone was running without a tracking device! It made me feel sad, both for them but also for a society that feels they need to track everything. I’m hopeful most of us who run with our dogs realize one simple truth: It’s never about the metrics, it’s all about the joy 🥰

In honor of International Day for Biodiversity ... which iconic taxa are you? 👀 (Let us know which ones you want to see next!) #IDB2026 #BiodiversityDay #LocalAction #ForNature @unbiodiversity.bsky.social

Text reads: "8.7 million+ species on Earth. which iconic taxa are you?"

Mammal: runs hot, emotionally and physically / took forever to become independent and is fine with that / "i just need to sleep for like a week." Mollusk: tough exterior (sometimes), complete mush inside / clingy, hates to be touched / homebody. Bird: disappears for months; comes back and acts like nothing happened / has an unhinged wardrobe and the confidence to match / up at unreasonable hours. Amphibian: teenage years were,,, interesting / true ambivert / first to know when the vibes are off. Arachnid: keeps to themselves but notices everything / occasional cannibalism (?!?) / down to do thankless work for food. Fungus: extremely well-connected / has a twin that will absolutely ruin your weekend / still playing the 2008 classic game Spore. Plant: annoyingly grounded about everything / slow to respond even though they heard you / occasionally toxic. Insect: everywhere, always, somehow / the reason plans make it out of the group chat / attracted to a full mooooooon.

Dog intelligence isn't one-size-fits-all; it depends on a breed's purpose. Experts divide it into instinctual, obedience, and adaptive intelligence. While a Border Collie excels at quick commands, a Staffy shows its brilliance through independent and adaptive problem-solving.

On the bark of a dark, wet log, are several small, bright blobs of jelly fungus. Some are yellow, some are white with yellow bases. On one of the yellow blobs, at lower left, there's a brown globular springtail. Also scattered on the bark are bright green squamules and two pillars of a Cladonia lichen.
