Trump announces that the U.S. will buy Russian oil. This is just a few weeks after Trump signed the Lindsey Graham Russia Sanctions bill, which authorized him to place 100% tariffs on countries that are the biggest importers of Russian oil/gas. Are we going to tariff ourselves now?

Gasoline will have a big impact on September CPI. EIA data show Sep YoY gasoline inflation is 36%. Diesel (not a line item in CPI) will be worse, at 68% YoY. (Diesel demand is half of gasoline by volume; shows up more on the PPI side, and/or embedded in inflation of other goods with lag in CPI)

This is not unreasonable to worry about. If Trump thinks the only reason Warsh voted to raise rates is that the rest of the FOMC is "political" and "hostile" and forced Warsh's hand, how do we think Trump will react, given lawfare deployed thus far against Fed members? www.wsj.com/politics/pol...

Also stupid: Trump is mad about our trade deficit with Canada. But the main reason we have a deficit with Canada is energy. Meanwhile he also wants to expand our energy imports from Canada. Has he ever seen a map of the Keystone XL pipeline that he's ardently trying to resurrect?
