The Parliament have just completed a candidate list for the POs new chief of staff/comms/parliamentary officer/PA sort of role… GOOOOOOD LUCK whoever gets that role.

For third sector/public affairs pals, new rules on CPGs at Scot Parl requires 1 member of each party represented on the SPCB for them to be approved. So that’s all 6!!! Huge number are going to fall (unless they combine with others obvs).

At this point we can’t rule out that they’re attempting to reanimate the corpse of Victor D’Hondt.

I believe the Real Greens have just been IGV'd out of a second seat in Mid Scotland and Fife. Huge questions for Electoral Commission to answer after two elections of this.

Can’t believe I’m saying this but, Douglas’ insight has actually been pretty good today.

And Skye, Lochaber & Badenoch turns! Was a strong seat for the SNP on the MRPs but many (including me) were very skeptical.

As I am now scrambling about various apps on my tele trying to get the election coverage back (like… what…) I think we can all agree the non-overnight count has been an absolute disaster.

And it’s number 2 for the Greens! @hollybruce.bsky.social has ran a fabulous campaign and a 3,000 majority shows that.

WOW! A massive near 10,000 majority for @thewliss.bsky.social in Glasgow Central!!!

SNP National Secretary Alex Kerr wins Hamilton. Massive loss for Labour after winning the by election only last year.

@lornaslater.bsky.social was unfairly battered in the press and by the opposition relentlessly while in Government. So on a personal level, happy for her.

ENORMOUS. Green win their first ever constituency. Angus Robertson & SNP in 3rd. Ouch.

Craig Russell Horne @craigrussellhorne.bsky.social · 08/05/2026
With Daniel Johnson winning Edinburgh Southern for Labour, I think that could be their new leader if Anas goes tonight.

While we have a bit of a break, in the most obvious commentary ever, Reform has killed the Tory vote in a number of areas that they really could have won.

SNP win Glasgow Easterhouse & Springburn with Ivan McKee. That will *probably* be your new Finance Secretary right there.

Craig Russell Horne @craigrussellhorne.bsky.social · 08/05/2026
Ah but, the Blue Wall (as rumoured) could hold. Finlay Carson wins Galloway that was projected to be a marginal SNP win.

Craig Russell Horne @craigrussellhorne.bsky.social · 08/05/2026
MRPs said SNP would win Eastwood by a tight margin and that’s exactly the case. Veteran Jackson Carlaw leaves Holyrood and looks like Russell Findlay will be returned on the list.

154 vote margin. If you ever think your vote doesn’t matter…

Craig Russell Horne @craigrussellhorne.bsky.social · 08/05/2026
First SNP surprise loss. Na h-Eileanan an Iar goes Labour. Dr Alasdair Allan has been MSP there since 2007. MRP had a projected majority of over 16% for the SNP.

Reform’s biggest constituency target… goes SNP. 350-ish votes in it.
010
Craig Russell Horne @craigrussellhorne.bsky.social · 08/05/2026
That was bloody close in Aberdeen Deeside. Looks as if Douglas Ross’ prediction/intel is correct that Tory voters have went on the constituency and dumped them for Reform on the list. Will cause chaos for their seat numbers.

Predicting if Edinburgh Central goes Green, Stephen Gethins becomes front runner for External Affairs Sec (unless I’m forgetting someone equally obvious for the role).
000
Craig Russell Horne @craigrussellhorne.bsky.social · 08/05/2026
MRPs had Lib Dem’s winning this with a projected majority of over 25% (top 8 safest seats for any party). Huge upset.

Craig Russell Horne @craigrussellhorne.bsky.social · 08/05/2026
WOW. SNP romp Shetland. Lib Dem’s have held this seat at Holyrood since 1999. Hannah Goodlad might have ran the best campaign in the country and will be a tremendous MSP.

Craig Russell Horne @craigrussellhorne.bsky.social · 08/05/2026
Apologies, 24.5% actual majority.

Craig Russell Horne @craigrussellhorne.bsky.social · 08/05/2026
That all but confirms Green picking up the constituency. For info, Glasgow Central is at 44%.

Craig Russell Horne @craigrussellhorne.bsky.social · 08/05/2026
Projected majority in Dundee City West for the SNP on the MRPs was 25.1%. Actual majority = 25.2%… interesting.

Day 126 Kaátaìra - Caminhos de água This album sounds absolutely mad to describe; Traditional Brazillian instrumentation, field recordings, Acoustic/Folk/Black Metal, lyrical odes to the beauty of nature, A small child's singing voice. If any of that sounds appealing, listen NOW. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Day 115 Boards Of Canada - Geogaddi I've listened to BoC before, but not extensively. Dunno why I hadn't, cause they really are THAT good. This album is haunting and comforting in equal measure. Spookomfy? Is that a thing? ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Day 81 Cortex - Tropeu Bleu Gorgeous, sexy, fun jazz funk from the mid 70s. You can hear the hairstyles of everyone involved in this record from the second you hit play. Had me boppin throughout. Also weird to hear a famous sample in its original form out of nowhere #RIPMFDOOM #ALLCAPS ⭐⭐⭐⭐
