Oh, I understand the current PDF landscape is a mess. But targeting one of the few career paths which can actually fix them feels like a terrible return on investment.

Why do “PDF remediation specialists” constantly target accessibility specialists on LinkedIn? Surely we’re the least likely people to need that? In other news, are there any electricians on here, who would like to pay for my new plug rewiring service?

I’m looking forward to seeing all the companies who are replacing juniors with AI, complaining in 5 years time that there is a lack of senior talent in the industry. As they say, “you reap what you sow”.

I’ve noticed all the playgrounds from when I was a kid are all the same now. Like a flat packed bulk buy, rather than each one being unique and designed from scratch. We’d travel on our bikes to different playgrounds and it was an adventure, but now, there wouldn’t be much point.

There's a common misconception that when browsing the web using a screen reader, it's reading the actual screen. This is not really surprising, as the name suggests that's exactly what it's doing. And...

I’m really enjoying writing at the moment. I’ve had over 30 blog posts in draft for months and felt like I was barely treading water. But, I’m at the point now where I’m starting to get a few of them over the line with less and less effort. ADHD in full motion 😅

Haha! I’m the same. Where I live the dialect is very regional. So as much as it’s “British English” we say some weird things. Like, we say divin’t instead of don’t, and gannin instead of going etc 😆

It doesn’t add up. If it’s so critical to our infrastructure, why is it allowed to be controlled by a US organisation in the first place?

They should have let it die. The brand is ruined. “Twitter” feels like one of those generational words, that defintely feels wrong to say in 2026, but was fine when your grandparents were kids.

I liked the setup when I was at Elastic. I was a design manager, but I was the same grade as the IC’s I managed. Because, it wasn’t about rank or seniority, it was just viewed as a different career track with a different skill set. I think this model helps humble those who like to have subordinates.

Craig Abbott @craigabbott.co.uk · 17/08/2026
Disagree. I’m usually dark mode all the way, but it depends on the colours used in the theme. Certain combinations of colours just don’t work for me in dark mode so I’ll manually toggle some to light. If I had to switch the system settings every time I changed browser tabs that would be awful.

AI models have started putting invisible watermarks into the content they write. So, if you use AI to write stuff for you, re-structure your own writing, or even just use it to correct your grammar, then may want to know how this could affect you! www.craigabbott.co.uk/blog/2026/ar... #ai #EuAiAct

Had issues for ages with my MacBook's fingerprint sensor not working when mounted on a stand and connected to my dock. Just realised this morning my stand must prevent it from grounding. I've just figured out if I touch the body with my other hand, it works fine! So, in future, I must become… Earth!

Re-implemented a light theme on my website rebuild. I’m a dark theme kinda guy, so I always struggle with light colour palettes. However, we’re renovating our bedroom, and I’ve legit used colour swatches from a paint sample booklet. Proof that you just never know where inspiration might come from! 😆
