I think after that last touchdown we can be happy!

I would like both teams to lose. I will also accept a tie.

I wonder if that’s a good one or an invasive one. We had an invasive on our deck last year 🥲

That website regularly adds incorrect information into its “articles” and misspells a lot of local stuff!

Taylor Swift bought a house in Cleveland (burbs but close enough) and now has a song called Cleveland!? It’s time… Time for her to buy the Browns.

It was very hard to report on BOS meetings when they had asked all their questions in meetings ahead of the meetings 😅

Or they learn a lot of what they need to know in two on twos (not sure how frequently this happens nowadays): dailyprogress.com/news/local/a...

Albemarle supervisors use small staff meetings to learn about public topics
Board members say the two-on-two meetings help them ask more in-depth questions before the public meeting in a way that doesn’t circumvent the transparency of public meetings.

It’s not but the board changed the CAC area in 2022ish

All CAT buses are free now and you can take the trolley or the 7 from downtown to UVa!

Yes, maybe even worse! I need to go count mine compared to theirs. I also have very obscure times like 6:51 a.m., 7:27 a.m., 7:41 a.m. and 7:47 a.m. and more!

Even more crazy - my hometown has approximately the same number of people as Charlottesville (if you go by the census counts/estimates)! But mayors are elected by the people, and apparently no one ever runs against this guy!

1. This is the cutest thing ever 2. I’ve met the 2 mayors of my hometown who’ve served in my lifetime (lol crazy). The first one served for 25 years then died in 2003 and the other has served since. 3. The current mayor in Charlottesville has no idea who I am (maybe he would recognize my name).

“Allison, why do you have so many pre-saved alarm possibilities on your phone?” Well, because apparently my phone’s auto setting for new alarms is no sound, and then when I set new alarms I don’t notice they have no sound and I oversleep for appointments!

Looking at his/this firm’s instagram, this architect seems like he really dislikes planners and seems kind of bitter that his idea wasn’t chosen for the county courts? His idea being… building parking and storage under court square park. I think he didn’t understand the full scope of the problems.

I feel like the times to complain were/are years ago when they started this and in 15-20 years when maybe some changes could be warranted. Students don’t even live over there yet! The trees are still baby trees! Also, you’re building along 2 major roads. It’s never going to be the lawn 2.0 🤷🏼‍♀️

I have so many thoughts but the first is a big LOL to light rail. But uva did quietly buy up the other side of Ivy (except for the church), so maybe they can make that side better?

The county is going to do a multi model transportation plan soon, you might want to keep an eye out for that to share input. I think there’s still a VDOT easement for some of the southern parkway.

And the city had tried to add some smaller allowances for commercial uses in neighborhoods for small restaurants/shops, but people fought against it. There was a lot of fear mongering at the time about the types of shops that might utilize these properties.

Allison Wrabel @craftypanda.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
There’s been a few vendors at the market who started there and have retail spaces now, or do both. There’s just limited commercial space, especially actually in the city limits. I’ve recently seen people online say they just wish they had a restaurant in their neighborhood…

Allison Wrabel @craftypanda.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
But we can’t allow commercial in neighborhoods because we’ll get vape shops in greenbrier…. Because that makes sense.

I always think about how my former coworker (who commented on that Facebook post!) got an aggressive email in 2016ish from the child of someone who was killed downtown in the 90s. I was like killed downtown? Harassing you now? Cool cool.

I think it’s less common (someone can correct me on that), and it also has a different process than normal jury service.

Just a reminder, even if you can’t physically be there, you can speak at public hearings via zoom in the county still: www.albemarle.org/government/b... (unless they’ve changed it in the last two months 😅, but it doesn’t look like it)

The fact that this is probably one of the coldest summers in Charlottesville I’ll have for the rest of my life is fuckibg insane. I’m just going to be a sweaty mess always. Please do not judge how I look or smell, I’m just trying my best.

And as much as people want to pretend we’re in some unique situation, this is happening all over the country. I see stuff from my college town every week about homelessness, crime (perceived and actual issues), rent increases, housing needs, etc.

It’s definitely going to be more of a thing with the conversion of office buildings to residential.

Allison Wrabel @craftypanda.bsky.social · 31/08/2026
Oh yeah, I would never rent or want someone to live in an entirely windowless apartment/studio situation. That’s crazy. But I don’t mind windowless bedrooms, and all the ones I’ve lived in have had sprinklers. I don’t really love the idea of a windowless bedroom in a non-sprinklered unit.
010
Allison Wrabel @craftypanda.bsky.social · 31/08/2026
My whole building would not be residential if you could not have windowless bedrooms. Tons of downtown Charlottesville apartments would not exist without windowless bedrooms. I’m not tortured! I can go in my living room and kitchen or out on my deck for sunlight!

Even in college I had windowless bedrooms! But I was only in my bedroom to sleep! I guess my senior year bedroom could have a had a window to the exterior hallway, but who wants that in student apartments.

Allison Wrabel @craftypanda.bsky.social · 31/08/2026
I’ve slept in windowless bedrooms for 7 out of the last 11 years, and lots of the responses here are wild to me. In fact, my current building wouldn’t be possible for residential without having windowless bedrooms. And it was built in the 90s!
