Spinning cotton using dyed cotton punis. It took a bit to get the hang of drafting since some parts of the punis were very compact. I let go of aiming for a consistent yarn. Which made spinning cotton punis more joyful. #fiberarts #spinningcottonyarn #spinning #lendrum #cotton

I did not. I used the fast flyer on the middle whorl. Once I drafted the yarn, I held it for a count to build up twist before letting it on the bobbin. I lost control on the fastest whorl. But I do want to work up to the very fast flyer, which I just bought, after some more practice.

With practice and patience, it is actually possible to spin cotton on a Lendrum wheel. The natural green cotton fiber in the background shifts magically from beige to green with a little baking soda in the finishing wash. #spinningyarn #fiberarts #fiberart #handspunyarn

I bought a #lojan Inkeltje #Inkle Loom and crochet cotton yarn for my birthday. The loom is smaller and more portable than my other loom. The pattern I’m #weaving is in the Lojan instructions. #fiberarts

My quest to finish WIPs is on track. My 4th #rigidheddle project is off the loom. I ended up with 3 placemats and 1 mini mat, rather than the 4 intended placemats. Lessons learned. I’m still happy with the results. And now know what works well versus doesn’t when weaving with linen. #gistyarn

Thanks. I’ve read some good reviews on Ra-Ra Raffia. But that it can also be rough in the hands. I’ll probably look for a more forgiving material for a hat that I want to make. Maybe cotton. I’ll look forward to see your completed hat.

Which Raffia product are you using? I tried Hobbi Rafaella but it killed my hands. I even tried putting twist in it with my wheel thinking that would make crocheting with it easy. No luck.
