The defence of Europe all at sea?
As the United States redefines its role in European security, the continent’s navies face important questions. Given their reduced size and the gaps in their key capabilities, the absence of US support would expose serious deficiencies. As such, investments will be required in areas such as land attack, maritime-domain awareness and sustainment.
