Hopefully you got out and enjoyed the record highs (in Fargo) yesterday, because there's a big drop in temperatures today. Highs top out in the 40s and 50s with a few showers today. This isn't a one-time only drop, we'll be staying cool as we head into the week. #ndwx #mnwx

South winds and sunshine are putting records in range for the southern valley today. Even as records look out of range to the North, it will still be a very warm fall day, so take advantage of the sunshine before temperatures drop behind the cold front tomorrow. #ndwx #mnwx

Crisp conditions are back around the valley this morning thanks to clear skies and calm winds overnight. Once we get the sun up however, it's shaping up to be a great day to get out and enjoy the fall festivities around the region. #ndwx #mnwx

Happy homecoming Saturday around the valley! The morning batch of showers are sliding out, but clouds will continue with brief light rain possible for the late morning/early afternoon. However the main hiccup may be a bit of a breeze at 10-20 mph into the afternoon #ndwx #mnwx

As we head into the week, Monday is still the day we are keeping an eye on for areas of heavy rain. Widespread rain will be likely by the afternoon and evening, with areas just south of the Devils Lake basin getting the highest chance for multiple inches of rain. #ndwx #mnwx

Where we have seen those clear skies for much of the night, lows have fallen into the 40s this morning, and some 30s across western North Dakota. While some have that cool start, we will all warm up with mostly sunny skies with highs approaching 70° this afternoon. #ndwx #mnwx

It's a mixed bag across the region this morning. In Lakes Country, where we saw the most rain yesterday, we have a foggy start to your Sunday morning, with some spots likely seeing reduced visibility through the late morning. To the west however, it is much clearer. #ndwx #mnwx

Showers sliding north across the region, and we are tracking a rainy start to the weekend. While showers will remain light for most, the steady rain will make things damp around the Red River Valley today. If you're looking for sunshine, make sure to get out tomorrow. #ndwx #mnwx

Charles Pekar @cpekarwx.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
Meanwhile, it's not widespread, but there are some areas of fog in the Red River Valley. It's very hit or miss, but the worst areas right now are around Fargo and Bemidji, with pockets of visibility dropping under a mile. #mnwx #ndwx

Off to the west, it's a different story. West of the Missouri river, we have off and on showers today, with the rain and blanket of clouds keeping temps in the 50s/low 60s for the afternoon. This rain won't be moving east however, as it slides out to the southeast tonight. #ndwx

It's a touch cooler to start out your Sunday morning, but by the afternoon? Nearly a repeat of yesterday, so a great day to get out on the porch or patio and get some grilling done before football this afternoon, with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s today. #ndwx #mnwx

Charles Pekar @cpekarwx.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
It's a seasonable fall weekend around the valley, with winds staying light. The main catches? You may still run into a misty/foggy patch this morning, and we will be underneath a blanket of clouds for today, with a little more sun tomorrow. Not too bad of a tradeoff. #ndwx #mnwx

Charles Pekar @cpekarwx.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
Yesterday brought a long stretch of summer weather to a close around the region. Yesterday was the first time we'd stayed in the 60s since mid-June, but we will have the cool weather sticking around again today, and a chance for rain moving in to start the week. #ndwx #mnwx

Charles Pekar @cpekarwx.bsky.social · 12/09/2026
We've got fall-like weather coming into the region today, with lows near 50° this morning. Behind last night's cold front, winds stay out of the northwest, keeping highs in the 60s this afternoon. Also known as: perfect weather to be watching football this weekend. #ndwx #mnwx

Charles Pekar @cpekarwx.bsky.social · 30/08/2026
Now we may not be entirely dry before then, as scattered showers may develop around the Red River Valley starting in the mid-afternoon that would be moving north, but those will not be as likely to pose severe threats to the region as the storms along to cold front. #ndwx #mnwx
000
Charles Pekar @cpekarwx.bsky.social · 30/08/2026
The timing will be from west to east, with storms initiating west of the Missouri River around 4-5 pm, moving into the Devils Lake Basin/James River Valley after sunset, and weakening as they push into the Red River Valley towards Midnight. #ndwx #mnwx

Charles Pekar @cpekarwx.bsky.social · 30/08/2026
The overnight showers are starting to weaken as we head past sunrise. However, we will be keeping an eye on a stronger batch developing along the Cold Front moving east this evening across North Dakota, with the main threat being winds up to 75 mph for Central ND. #ndwx #mnwx

We've had a cluster of thundershowers move through Lakes Country this morning, with some spots seeing 1-3" of rain in the heavies band, and pockets over 3". While we have been dry, low lying areas may have some flooding this morning, so stay safe traveling today. #mnwx #ndwx
011
Charles Pekar @cpekarwx.bsky.social · 23/08/2026
And Fargo *did* get into the 40s right around sunrise this morning, with the low falling to 46° at Hector, with lower 40s as showcased earlier north of US-2.

Charles Pekar @cpekarwx.bsky.social · 23/08/2026
And speaking of summer, we've got another chance for some pop-up thunderstorms tomorrow, with the main threat being hail in those hit-or-miss showers across the Red River Valley late in the afternoon into the early evening. #ndwx #mnwx

Charles Pekar @cpekarwx.bsky.social · 23/08/2026
It's a crisp start to your Sunday morning across the Valley, with Fargo searching for the first morning in the 40s since late July, and some spots north of US-2 in the low 40s. However, summer will return quickly this afternoon, with 80s on the way this afternoon. #ndwx #mnwx

A beautiful sunrise to kick off the weekend, and there's plenty of sunshine on the way. We had hit & miss showers last night, but now the clouds are clearing out, and rain chances stay spotty into the start of the week. #ndwx #mnwx

Charles Pekar @cpekarwx.bsky.social · 16/08/2026
Still over a half hour before the sun is fully over the horizon, but it's shaping up to be a beautiful sunrise as well.

Charles Pekar @cpekarwx.bsky.social · 16/08/2026
We're seeing lower 50s where clouds have cleared for much of the night, but where we still have the clouds rolling out of Lakes Country, temperatures are in the 60s. Today looks to be a great one to get outside in the sunshine, with 70s and low 80s for the afternoon. #ndwx #mnwx

Charles Pekar @cpekarwx.bsky.social · 15/08/2026
Additional rainfall through the day will be minimal, but some spots around Lakes Country may deal with light rain & mist into the mid afternoon, while areas farther to the west will see clouds clear quicker. Tomorrow brings in more sunshine all throughout the region. #ndwx #mnwx

Charles Pekar @cpekarwx.bsky.social · 15/08/2026
Rainfall rates have been light, but steady overnight through Lakes Country, with some spots slowly accumulating a half inch of rain this morning. Most of the region is also seeing mist to some extent. #ndwx #mnwx

Rain! It was great to be able to hear rumbles of thunder heading to the station this morning. Now the rain was pretty much isolated to Cass County, and it wasn't much (only 0.13" at WDAY), but there are a few more chances of spotty showers coming up quickly this week. #ndwx #mnwx
000
Charles Pekar @cpekarwx.bsky.social · 08/08/2026
It'll be a touch on the warm side today, but you can't frame it much better than this for the daytime hours. Get out and enjoy the sunshine this weekend. We are tracking the chance for an isolated thundershower once we get into the evening though. #ndwx #mnwx

Charles Pekar @cpekarwx.bsky.social · 02/08/2026
We're continuing a warm start to August today, with a bit more of a breeze. Highs top out near 90° for a warm afternoon, and we are still keeping an eye on the risk for a few severe thunderstorms by the time we get to Monday afternoon and evening. #mnwx #ndwx

Charles Pekar @cpekarwx.bsky.social · 01/08/2026
The good news: There is rain in the forecast. However, the way I'm seeing it shake out has become an all too familiar sight this summer. The heaviest rains are looking to not hit the area that could use it the most, I'll time those out this morning on First News. #ndwx #mnwx
001
Charles Pekar @cpekarwx.bsky.social · 01/08/2026
Now there are some areas that have been getting more of the rain, especially looking towards the northern Valley and *parts* of lakes country, but for most, we've been missing out on the steady, soaking rains of the summer in the heart of the valley. #ndwx #mnwx

To add further context to this, here's a look at climate averages for June. We've gotten less rainfall over the past 3 months combined than we get on average in June in Fargo. Grand Forks is doing a little better, but still running below average after a wetter June. #ndwx #mnwx
112
Charles Pekar @cpekarwx.bsky.social · 01/08/2026
How dry has it been in Fargo? Here's one way to put it. Climatologically, May, June, and July are the wettest months of the year. Well over those 3 months, we've seen only 4.24" of rain, with around half of that coming on June 3rd and 28th. #ndwx #mnwx

Meanwhile we once again have some fog across NW Minnesota this morning, so be prepared to run into some areas where if you're heading out over the next hour or two, that you'll want to take things a little slower, even though the fog is rather shallow for some. #mnwx #ndwx

Charles Pekar @cpekarwx.bsky.social · 26/07/2026
And it's just as important to talk about ways to stay cool in this heat as it is to talk about the heat itself. If you want to get outdoors, have spots where you can get a break from the heat and if you can, avoid the peak of the heat in the afternoon. #ndwx #mnwx
100
Charles Pekar @cpekarwx.bsky.social · 26/07/2026
It's the hottest day of the forecast, with highs looking to approach the upper 90s and triple digits this afternoon. After we hit the peak of heating for the day, we may also have the chance for a t-storm across NW MN, but those will be hit-or-miss for the evening. #ndwx #mnwx
100
Charles Pekar @cpekarwx.bsky.social · 25/07/2026
As for rain chances the rest of the month? It continues to be hit or miss. Wednesday/Thursday looks to be the best *chance* but even then, the coverage of the rain may be similarly spotty to what we saw with yesterday's storms being feast or famine across the region. #ndwx #mnwx

Charles Pekar @cpekarwx.bsky.social · 25/07/2026
After we had a couple cooler days in the middle of the week, the heat has now returned for the final weekend in July. Tomorrow looks to be a touch hotter than today, but both will be hot and humid, so have ways to stay cool in the afternoon. #ndwx #mnwx

Charles Pekar @cpekarwx.bsky.social · 19/07/2026
Isolated thundershowers are moving through North Dakota this morning, but will look to fizzle out within the next few hours. The evening will bring in another chance for t-storms, with the main risks being hail and strong winds into the night as they push east. #ndwx #mnwx
000
Charles Pekar @cpekarwx.bsky.social · 18/07/2026
Tomorrow brings a brief return of the heat and humidity, along with the chance for thunderstorms. As the cold front then moves through Monday, we'll turn windy to start the week, with a brief cool stretch by the midweek forecast. #ndwx #mnwx
000
Charles Pekar @cpekarwx.bsky.social · 18/07/2026
Calm weather is on the way to start the weekend. There's a hint of haze still around Lakes Country, and parts of the northern valley are dealing with pockets of fog, but by the afternoon we'll have plenty of sunshine, improving air quality, and highs in the upper 80s. #ndwx #mnwx
100
Charles Pekar @cpekarwx.bsky.social · 17/07/2026
Air quality has taken a sharp turn for the worse this morning as the cold front moves in. As winds shift to the north, that is dragging the smoke that had been north of the valley down through the valley and to the surface for the late morning and early afternoon. #ndwx #mnwx
011
Charles Pekar @cpekarwx.bsky.social · 12/07/2026
And with temperatures this hot, we're keeping an eye on records that may fall across central and western North Dakota, where highs look to climb well into the triple digits this afternoon. Some of those records at risk date back to the 1920s! #ndwx
011
Charles Pekar @cpekarwx.bsky.social · 12/07/2026
We are setting up for another hot and sunny day throughout the valley. Highs look to climb to the upper 90s and low triple digits for some this afternoon, with dewpoints in the 70s for one more day. Make sure to stay hydrated as we wrap up the weekend! #ndwx #mnwx
111
Charles Pekar @cpekarwx.bsky.social · 11/07/2026
Stay hydrated, and have multiple ways to stay cool, that's what's important this weekend. While we've got a few morning clouds, those will quickly give way to sunshine beating down on the region through the start of this week. #ndwx #mnwx
010
Charles Pekar @cpekarwx.bsky.social · 05/07/2026
Grab that sunscreen today, because we've got plenty of sunshine, heat, and humidity to wrap up the holiday weekend. As we head into the week, we are keeping an eye on a few rounds of T-Showers starting late tonight. #mnwx #ndwx
011
Charles Pekar @cpekarwx.bsky.social · 04/07/2026
Here's the timeline for the 4th of July. The main concern today is a few pm t-showers may bring *brief* interruptions to festivities, but for much of the area, those clear out in time for fireworks. The dampness may mean you'll want a lawn chair instead of a blanket. #ndwx #mnwx
100
Charles Pekar @cpekarwx.bsky.social · 04/07/2026
It's nearly a completely calm morning for the start of the 4th of July across North Dakota. However, those calm conditions have allowed a little fog to settle in across the northern valley, but visibility will quickly improve through the morning. #ndwx #mnwx
100
Charles Pekar @cpekarwx.bsky.social · 14/06/2026
The clouds quickly gave way to clear skies overnight, and that has led to a cool start to your Sunday morning. However, if you're looking for a warmer day, you're in luck. We've got plenty of sunshine on the way today, with highs warming to the 70s this afternoon. #ndwx #mnwx
100
Charles Pekar @cpekarwx.bsky.social · 13/06/2026
And if you're searching for the warmer weather already, you won't be chilly for too long. Highs return to the 70s with plenty of sunshine tomorrow, with a few chances of rain once we get into next week. #ndwx #mnwx
