We got the PERFECT campsite at Elk Prairie Campground - Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park in Northern California on our adventure in September. I'm missing being out there (except that my dog is't with me - I hate leaving her behind on #motorcycle trips).

Public meetings in the USA are getting uglier & uglier. City, county & state government workers are getting scared because of the verbal & physical assaults. It's happened where I live in Oregon to an elected official - & he her political opponent CHEERED it. This is a crisis.

Public Consultation is personally affecting my mental health and making me feel unsafe at my job

As the title says, I get that public consultation is part of the job. But I used to get excited to go out to the public with new plans and talking to people who are excited about city building. But now I dread it. A little bit of tension is ok, and I used to find people pretty reasonable, but in my last few session, I encountered: verbally abusive people (literally, inches away from my face screaming and berating me), people who put their hands on members of my team (poking her in the chest to make a point), and racist and homophobic slurs written on comment cards (I'm a POC for what it's worth). I'm a 5'3" 130lb female who is a visible minority, and I'm tired of feeling like I need an entourage of white male coworkers just to do my job.

I get a surge of anxiety when I'm assigned to a project with public consultation scope, only to breath a sigh of relief when I find out the client wants virtual only. I've been "lucky" in that most of my projects are the fun ones where the proposal is generally something that the public usually likes or is neutral on.

I'm sure this has been posted several times in the past, but the stress is reaching a new high. Not sure what I'm looking for here - maybe just solidarity, some stories of your own experience with this, perhaps someone here has felt the same way and decided to change career paths? Thanks for reading if you got this far.

Someone dumped a kitten on my neighbor's porch. So sweet & loving: had clearly been human handled all of her little short life. Took me less than three hours of online marketing to find someone to adopt her. &, yet, I cannot find a job in communications, marketing or PR anymore...

My husband & I are atheists, but went to the Festival of Animals across the street from our house & our dog Lucinda got blessed by the clergy & I think she's a Methodist now. So, just sprinkling, no dunking. But as soon as she realizes that Baptists have better music, she'll probably convert.

I was raised as a Christian, in the Bible Belt, but in my late teens finally abandoned my attempts at being a believer. But the teachings remain with me, & I regularly see Christian-based social media posts by family & friends on Facebook. The hypocrisy of so many of them is jarring.

You cannot kneel before the crucified Christ and cheer for the machinery of death. You cannot proclaim a gospel of redemption while turning another human being's death into a spectacle. Back from a glorious two-week motorcycle camping trip. This is the first night, at a campsite in Harlan, Oregon, which my husband found because he loves the song "you'll never leave Harlan alive" & when he saw it on a map, he checked it out & decided that's where we'd stay. We left alive, BTW.

I was always so disappointed that Portlandia never did anything related to Portland Roller Derby (Rose City Rollers). To me, there's nothing more Portland, Oregon that roller derby. League posted this today, from a junior players' match. INCREDIBLE. Seeing a match in PDX is a MUST if you visit.

When five dogs show up at your door, demanding dog treats... Mine is the brindle in the middle. I sometimes walk my dogs in the mornings with some neighbors and their dogs, and this lovely neighbor, if she's home, always has dog biscuits to hand out to these very demanding canines.

Duo of Duolingo is not happy about the new Duo iPhone from Apple. (actually, I love the snark and sass - well done, Duolingo social media manager & marketing team).

Not a lot going for me these days... at least I have my Duolingo score. Takes me about six weeks to move up by one. I've got a long, long way to go... & I already watch some TV shows & movies in Spanish, so... I'm a rule breaker.

I'm 60 years old. So is Star Trek. Of course I was WAY too young to see it on prime time. But it was in perpetual daytime reruns when I was a kid. I LOVED it. Especially Uhura: smart, beautiful, abs to die for, could totally kick your butt. And, yeah, it was ALWAYS WOKE.

I wish I could have gone to see The Odyssey on IMAX - there's no such screen anywhere near me, and I don't have a car. So I had to settle for a regularly screen. But I was so amused the little helmets showing which theater seats were reserved already.
