220k daily infections currently, with new variants. Fauci said in Nov 2021 that we had to get below 10k daily cases to have any sort of control or normalcy. That target was completely abandoned. Not because "COVID is over/mild" but because the economy couldn't wait any longer.

I had a painful reminder today of how much my social circle has diminished due to my chronic health conditions and COVID avoidance. Even so, cashing my brain and body in for some broader social acceptance still just isn't worth it. But that doesn't make it hurt any less.
