220k daily infections currently, with new variants. Fauci said in Nov 2021 that we had to get below 10k daily cases to have any sort of control or normalcy. That target was completely abandoned. Not because "COVID is over/mild" but because the economy couldn't wait any longer.

Reminder that mid-2024 Dr. Fauci put to rest the mythical fantasy of "herd immunity" with SARS-CoV-2 / COVID-19. The media acting surprised that we have yet another COVID wave again after ~90 days is willful ignorance, and deliberate misinformation.

Clip from an interview with Dr. Fauci in summer 2024 saying unequivocally that there is no possibly way to have "herd immunity" with SARS / COVID-19.
