On this day in 1970, we lost one of my greatest musical influences, Janis Joplin, at just 27-years-old. This portrait of Janis means so much to me. It is currently available on my website. 🌈☮️💟 courtneyleedesigns.com/shop #CourtneyLeeDesigns #fanart #janisjoplin

A photo of Courtney Lee Designs (2026) holding her original artwork of Janis Joplin, created in 2025. Full caption below:

“On this day in 1970, we lost one of my greatest musical influences, Janis Joplin at just 27-years-old. Her colorful, energetic, and bluesy style was unique to Janus alone; her powerful voice spoke to the complex intricacies of love, hope, and heartache. Her authentic spirit and her music continues to inspire even decades later. ✌️🫶🕊️

January 19th, 1943 - October 4th, 1970 💔

I hear Janis’ songs, and I immediately think about my grandpa. Especially in the summertime, I miss blasting her CD’s in the car with him at full volume, with the windows rolled down. I miss watching my grandpa drop everything he was doing to give her songs his full attention; mid-Yahtzee game, or in the middle of dinner while the “Golden Oldies” music station played on the television, or while he’d scroll Facebook on the computer with his headphones on. I remember how enamored he was when I even showed him MILEY‘s live performance of Janis’ hit “Maybe” (one of my personal favorites of both Janis and Miley).

This portrait of Janis means so much to me. I originally painted it to be included in my art book, “Rainbow Realm”. This original piece (and my book) are available on my website. 🌈☮️💟

September 11th, 2001. I keep reflecting on my vague memories from that day, & my past visits to the memorial & museum in 2017 & 2022. I think about the victims. I think about the ripple effect that day continues to have. #CourtneyLeeDesigns #WTC #twintowers #neverforget #NYC #RememberTheSky

"Twin Towers: 25th Anniversary” (2026) memorializing artwork by Courtney Lee Designs.

A photo collage (2026) by Courtney Lee Designs. Full caption, written on 9/11/2026, shown below:

“Thinking about my Uncle Reid today, and his heroic work at Ground Zero in the immediate aftermath of 9/11. How humble he was about sharing his role in all of it. His hard-fought battle with cancer years later.

I remember the absolute gem of a man he was. Some of my favorite memories have been shared with him. I wish there was more time. He lived such a full life – a life full of love. I miss him so much. 🕊️

8.25.49 - 2.10.23 ❤️‍🩹

His message: ‘I’ll always remember. Driving down to Ground Zero, seeing this horrible event, the fire, the smoke, the smell and the sounds will always be with me. I wasn’t a first responder, just a menial communications tech from MCI. But when the towers went down, so did all communications. Police, Firefighters and EMT’s couldn’t communicate with each other or coordinate dispatches to the areas that needed assistance. People trapped in the fallen buildings couldn’t call out on their cell phones since there was no signal. We went unnoticed setting up remote cell towers and reestablishing emergency communications. We all were able to help and would do it again, but yes, sadly, tearfully, I will never forget as I look at some of the pictures I took.’”

“I just want to share this as inspiration for fellow artists, showing what a superpower we have to make an incredible, positive impact in our communities. When local organizations, businesses, and municipalities value / support / hire HUMAN, LOCAL artists (of any medium)…everyone benefits!

I’m so honored to be commissioned for this year’s annual arts festival in Brockport, NY. I designed the OFFICIAL poster (pictured center with its matching 4x6" print). I also created my own commemorative designs to further expand on the celebration of the festival’s 30th anniversary. The designs largely highlight my signature rainbow aesthetics, as well as featuring the town’s historic Erie Canal lift bridge.

Thank you times a million to BISCO / the entire festival team, and the Village of Brockport for entrusting me with the design of this year’s poster. Thank you all for supporting local businesses and creators like myself, and for the tireless efforts to organize / volunteer your time and labor for the festival each year. What an incredible honor to share my art with our community, uniting us and celebrating the 30th anniversary of one of Brockport’s most beloved and highly-anticipated events.

Come check out my work at booth 37 as a first-time solo vendor at the Brockport Arts Festival! Located on Main St. just outside the post office on August 8th and 9th, 2026 from 10am-5pm EST.

Being commissioned for the official poster design is a major highlight of my career thus far, and it was MONTHS in the making. In true Courtney Lee Designs style, I embraced my signature colorful aesthetic and psychedelic vibes.

The festival hosts a diverse group of local artisans in the heart of Brockport’s downtown. The historic Erie Canal lift bridge is a central landmark that connects motorists, boaters, kayakers, cyclists, and pedestrians to our Main Street businesses all year round, but especially during festival weekend. The bridge is THE integral part of this design.

The Brockport Arts Festival is a highly-anticipated annual event that the community always looks forward to; for my art to be cemented in the commemoration of this milestone year is an incredible honor. 🌻💜 Thank you to Kari Pardun, BISCO, the entire festival team, and the Village of Brockport for showing so much love for my work, and for entrusting me with such a monumental project.

Signed editions of this 11x17” poster and 4x6” print will be available at my booth during the festival. Look for me at booth 37 outside of the post office on August 8th & 9th from 10am–5pm!

$Images of artwork and “Rainbow Realm” art book by Courtney Lee Designs. Full caption below: June 2026: “Superpowers” Exhibition at Stony Point Arts Studio & Gallery 🖼️❤️‍🩹 “This exhibit is not about the fictional heroes of comic books. It is about a much quieter, more resilient kind of strength. The artists featured have faced some of life’s most profound disruptions — medical crises, chronic illness, physical disabilities, deep personal loss... When conventional language failed to capture their experiences, these creators turned to the canvas, the torch, the lens, and the brush. Art-making is a space where suffering can be transformed. Leaning into the creative process is courage. It asks that we look directly at our fractures and view them as spaces where light can enter. Through bold brushstrokes, intricate textures, and unfiltered expressions, these artists have reclaimed their agency, rewritten their narratives, and discovered their own super powers. As you move through this space, we invite you to look closely at the evidence of survival on these walls. These works remind us that while our bodies and hearts are fragile, the human impulse to create remains indestructible.” You can enjoy, learn about, and purchase my work at the gallery 🫶 • “Visual Memoir” (2024) • “Immunity” (2025) • “Limerence” (2026) More to find: • My book, “Rainbow Realm” 🌈📖 • ACEOs, postcards, and prints • “Incantation” (2025) • “Sun Giraffe” (2026) • “Mount Hope Cemetery” (2025) 114 N.
