One of the more unusual singles I picked up at a Record Fair this morning… they may look like they were on Sarah Records in 1986 but the 7” was actually released in Japan in 1968!

Well that’s a first…. A bassist must have been late for his gig as he was riding his motorbike with his bass guitar slung around him like he was about to join in a traffic jam session! Even more worryingly he headed off down the M4 sliproad shortly after I snapped him at a red traffic light…! 😳

Finally got to see the band responsible for my 2024 Album of the Year and contender for this years album of the year….. Brigitte Calls Me Baby were just as amazing live in Bristol as they are on record! See them before they are playing stadiums!

Top evening in @lepub.bsky.social starting with the always reliable Bedford Falls (opening with a Dolly Parton cover), new (older) kids on the block Lithium Kicks played some Pistol-esque RnR before the sublime Lee Bains shared his songs of class struggle & his love of Wales. See him if you can!

Excellent fun at Cardiff Castle yesterday! All four bands were brilliant and met loads of friends I hadn’t seen in ages too! The Stanglers were the first band I ever saw live back in 1977 and they were as good now as they were 49 years ago (I know only JJB remains)!

I will sort proper photos tomorrow but huge respect to the security and paramedics who worked so hard to keep so many aging punks alive tonight!!! Genuinely never seen anything like that!
