I know JR wanted to leave, I just don't agree with that "Oh I guess I killed myself" because so much of the show's audience resonated with Q's mental issues. I believe it could have been handled better, that's all

He went on a quest, he went traveling to other worlds to find magic, he went off to chronicle adventures, he went to find Middle Earth...he was intelligent and observant and there were so many other options for an exit. AO3 has dozens of fics that fans created (including the ones I penned!)

Check your laughter, friend, because I was literally AT the 2018 NYCC panel where the writers said this. JR can't speak on it because of contracts etc but the head writers said they wanted to show anyone could die and because of "cosmic whimsy."
