ATProtocol implementing permissioned data is going to enable some cool stuff that I've wanted to build And make some of the stuff I've already built better Some (most) data shouldn't be indexed at will; this allows for that in so many different applications #BuildInPublic #ATProtocol #developer

RE: mastodon.social/@countablenewt/1168… Thinking about this more: Bluesky going down would be more like *every* Mastodon instance going down A much bigger impact to a lot of people, but ultimately a lot of other parts of the network would still exist

And another build of Just. Weather. is out as I keep playing with the design of the app Take a look and download the beta at getjustweather.app #BuildInPublic
Sleek black iPhone mockup showcasing a minimalist weather app UI for “Cupertino, CA” against a dark studio background. The screen centers a large “59°” with “Feels Like” beneath it and a pill-shaped “H: 73° L: 50°” bar, framed by clean white typography on pure black. Below, a “Today At A Glance” card calmly reports it’s “Checking how it feels outside…,” followed by an hourly forecast row of cloudy icons stepping temperatures down through the late-night hours. A compact data grid highlights nerdy-but-friendly stats—temperature, dew point, humidity, wind with a tiny compass dial, and the current moon phase (“New Moon”)—like weather cards for people who actually read them. At the bottom, minimalist sunrise and sunset times stretch across the width, mirroring the app’s vibe: a quietly overengineered “just tell me the weather” experience for people who care about good interface design almost as much as they care about the forecast.

Can’t believe we have to say this in 2026, but just because it’s JD Vance or Trump doesn’t mean it’s okay to just start body shaming Just because it’s them doesn’t mean it won’t hurt others, especially knowing that they themselves will never see it, but plenty of others will

Saying that Bluesky is down therefore all of ATProto is down is like saying dot social is down, so all of the Fediverse is down ATProto is not Bluesky, ActivityPub is not Mastodon Just because you don't hear about other projects doesn't mean they don't exist #SocialWeb

Pushed an update to Just. Weather. with the beginnings of getting it to production The app now adopts Liquid Glass cards for the various measurement points On top of that the app now uses Apple’s on device models to give a brief summary of the weather Check it out at getjustweather.app
A sleek smartphone screen displays a weather app in dark mode, dramatically announcing “58°” in large white numbers. Below it, the app notes “Feels Like” with a rain icon, as if the weather is personally offended by your plans. Additional details show a high of 67°, low of 58°, light wind from the northwest, very high humidity (93%), and a dew point of 59°, basically confirming the air is doing its best impression of soup. Sunrise and sunset times are listed, and at the bottom, a small note says “Waning Crescent.” At the top, a cheeky message reads, “Stepping outside feels like trying to dance in a sauna with a slight breeze,” perfectly explaining why this screenshot exists: to warn you that while it’s not that cold, it’s definitely not comfortable either.

What They™ don't want you to know
Table-style “Can I use WebP?” graphic showing WebP’s browser support matrix. At the top, a header explains that WebP is a modern baseline image format based on VP8, supporting lossy and lossless compression, animation, and alpha transparency, with AVIF and JPEG XL called out as successors. Below, a dense color-coded grid lists desktop and mobile browsers—Chrome, Edge, Safari, Firefox, Opera, IE, and various Android browsers—across many version ranges, with mostly green cells indicating strong support, a few yellow/orange cells for partial or older support, and red for legacy gaps. A small usage summary notes that around 96.8% of global traffic can handle WebP. Overall, it reads like a compatibility flex: “yes, you can safely ship WebP on the modern web, GIF truthers notwithstanding.”
