So, I did a thing. I just bought a 36 acre farm, with a pond and a little lake for my 64th birthday present. No plans for how I’ll use it. I just need space… lots of space to wander each day. My husband is turning 70 this year and is certain that I’ve lost my mind.🤣

Several years ago I invited a Buddhist monk to speak to my Senior elective class, and quite interestingly, as he entered the room, he didn't say a word (that caught everyone's attention). He just walked to the board and wrote this: "EVERYONE WANTS TO SAVE THE WORLD, BUT NO ONE WANTS TO HELP MOM DO THE DISHES." We all laughed. But then he went on to say this to my students:
"Statistically, it's highly unlikely that any of you will ever have the opportunity to run into a burning orphanage and rescue an infant. But, in the smallest gesture of kindness -- a warm smile, holding the door for the person behind you, shoveling the driveway of the elderly person next door -- you have committed an act of immeasurable profundity, because to each of us, our life is our universe."
This is my hope for you for the New Year --that by your smallest acts of kindness, you will save an other's world.

Good advice. My curiosity drives me to learn something new or develop a better understanding. It takes all my time/effort to delve deeply enough to find accurate and reliable resources these days. No time/patience for shitpost opinions stated as fact or speculation. I’m avoiding those traps.

My grandmother refused to lose herself in hating awful people doing awful things(no wishing that person dead) but said fuck forgiveness or acceptance(no enabling). Either she put a stop to them if she had the power or she released her hate with a heart felt wish,”I hope you are infested by fleas”.

I got this last fall picture of our Ollie tractor. Then the winds came up and stripped the leaves from the trees overnight (and the temperatures dropped) so it’s feeling very wintery now.

I took my 1966 C-10 for its last ride before putting her away for the winter. She decided she ‘d had enough with the world, her carburetor vapor locked, and off to the shop she went. She’ll be fine. She needs a little time to heal and recover. I can relate.
