Amazing how much difference the simple stuff can make. Draught-proofing isn’t glamorous, but it’s one of the quickest ways to cut heat loss and make an old home feel warmer. Small, low-cost fixes can take the edge off the cold while you plan the bigger work – often where a good retrofit starts.

Who would have thought? Even in the hybrid combination of a heat pump and hydrogen boiler, hydrogen proves to be too expensive. Local electrolysis proved too expensive, H2 gas came from Belgium (carry gas to Groningen is the applicable proverb here, I guess).

I'll never purchase another gas-powered car. When my high-efficiency furnace needs replacing, I'll install a heat pump. Oh, and by the way, China is not only rapidly replacing carbon fuel with renewables, they're also exporting the technology, making it cheaper by the day. But do go on, Danielle. 🤷‍♂️
