Shell pre-empts the Prime Minister of Canada, announces expansion of LNG Canada overnight. TC Energy also announces doubling of Coastal Gaslink fracked gas pipeline capacity. More pollution, whale-injuring tanker traffic, flaring, conflicts, profits for foreign corps, fracking. Good for who?

Let this sink in. Cornell University refused to refund Jane Doe's tuition the semester she was raped. Without this money, she could not transfer to another school. Essentially, she was forced to stay on campus where she saw those seven rapists frequently. Eventually she dropped out of college.

While I totally appreciate the message of this post, one of the things we're missing is that most men who commit rape don't think what they did was rape. They think these warnings are for other men. And that's a huge huge part of the problem.

Tyrants view educated citizens as their greatest enemy. Slaveholders stopped the enslaved from learning to read. Nazis burned books. Dictators censor media. That’s why Trump is attacking education, science, museums, the media, and the arts – to prevent us from learning. It's Fascism 101.

The UK communities secretary decried protests by ‘men in black wearing face masks’ and those ‘whipping up hatred’ towards lifeboat volunteers Far-right marches led by the self-styled “Danny Tommo” should not be treated like normal protests, the communities secretary, Angela Rayner, has said, calling the marches “intimidation” that should not be permitted. Rayner said the behaviour of some masked marchers – who have blocked roads and transport hubs – was not an acceptable form of protest. Continue reading...
