been trying to replicate mid 90s-ish 3d environment art

3D render of a sandy and rocky shoreline with dead grasses and reeds. Giant rusted pipes and two giant rounded frosted glass cubes loom over the background.

3D render of a mountainous island. A pearlescent sky reflects off the water with various large glass structures dotting the island.

3D render of a marble walkway floating on water, leading to a small island with a ring of cracked stone statues.

and there were several of these drives lying around in silver/orange external drive enclosures so now im wondering if every drive was just. top gear. even the drive labels were just "Top Gear".

the free pile at VCF was a bit disappointing this year but i did pick up a pair of 250gb hard drives from it. finally got around to checking if they worked. and theres 200+gb/254 episodes of top gear on each. like. every episode from 2002 to 2015 lol. and some from '89 and '90 + extras. wtf

so at vcf an anonymous artist drew & made a sticker of my fursona!!! at first i saw it and was like ooh free sticker and then i looked closer and was freaking out :0 (positive). i've never gotten gift art from someone outside my immediate friend group! incredible work, i will cherish it forever!

Sticker of my fursona, an anthropomorphic fox with beige/brown/white fur and brown hair tied in a ponytail over her shoulder. She's wearing a grey collared shirt and black pants, and has two asymmetrical horns/antlers. The sticker is holographic(?) with a star pattern. She probably perpetually smells like coffee grounds.

sure you can have your criticisms of it. sure im a little disappointed its Just The Same Game Again. but someone is gonna enjoy it. good for them. there are probably over a million games that exist in the world and this is just one of them. im gonna go play something that interests me.

cosmopawt🐾 @cosmopawt.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

sorry if im being atop my high horse but like, "It" is not made for me and thats fine. its not hurting anyone. why should i expend so much of my energy being mad about it. the artists who made it owe me nothing. like, im not being forced to play it. probably wasnt gonna play it regardless. who cares

I'm exhibiting at this year's VCFMW, September 12/13th. That's this coming weekend! I'll be displaying Japanese personal computers released in the 80s/90s, and showing what they can do! You can expect to see systems from NEC, Sharp, and Fujitsu, plus a couple consoles and PDAs for good measure.

text reading "kokoscript @ VCFMW21 - パソコンSAMPLER - A showcase of 80s/90s Japanese personal computing - Visit vcfmw.org for more details!" a map of tables is shown, highlighting tables B522/523. to the side is a cut-out photo of my fursona peeking out of a Sharp X68000

so, i celebrated too early, minecraft worked but games with non-resizable windows would get cut off by the third monitor. Turns out, xinerama CAN work across 2 GPUs by having the outer monitors powered by the primary gpu and the middle monitor powered by the other. fullscreen works too!

cosmopawt🐾 @cosmopawt.bsky.social · 05/08/2026

nvm figured it out just had to run linux. I'll have to make a more detailed post about it, probably when i get the sick ass custom silver decal on it of coiled twin vipers. but yknow. using lxde so even the desktop environment is period accurate! took so. so many hours of failure. but it is done.

000

cosmopawt🐾 @cosmopawt.bsky.social · 02/08/2026

Yeah, i had a thought earlier that windowed mode is just causing the games to stutter so badly that it looks like its running at a much lower framerate than it says they are. Unfortunately im running 2 nvidia 8800 gts 512's so neither eyefinity nor nvidia surround (gpus are too old) is an option.

100

cosmopawt🐾 @cosmopawt.bsky.social · 02/08/2026

also dont @ me about it running on windows 10 with a vista skin, i have an actual vista install on this pc i just didnt wanna grab the oblivion disc!!!!

000

cosmopawt🐾 @cosmopawt.bsky.social · 02/08/2026

well regardless of if i can get games to not be capped at 30 fps in windowed mode, its still pretty cool to be able to run games at 3328x1024 on period-accurate hardware. The build is finally complete after a solid few years.... TWINVIPER rises at last ....

cosmopawt🐾 @cosmopawt.bsky.social · 01/08/2026

For context i'm running games in windowed mode and my motherboard doesn't support SLI (much to my dismay, but im unsure if that would make a difference). Really can't find any info on people running multiple monitors across multiple gpus for double/triple monitor gaming so guess i'll ask here. 🤷

000

cosmopawt🐾 @cosmopawt.bsky.social · 01/08/2026

games will report that they're running at, i.e. 60 fps but visually look like theyre running at 20-30, with terrible input lag. Tried in both windows vista and 10, with the same results. Wondering if anyone has experience with stupid dumb asinine weird ass setups like this.

cosmopawt🐾 @cosmopawt.bsky.social · 01/08/2026

So, here's a wild shot in the dark cuz im at my wits end. I've been trying to get 2 GPUs to power 3 monitors on a 2007 gaming pc i put together, which works, but not as well as it theoretically should. I can get games running in 3328x1024 resolution just fine with .ini tweaks, buuuut ➡️

good news for foxe's: cheese bad news for fox'es: competition.

Google search for "can foxes have cheese". A result is shown from bbcwildlife.org.uk saying "Foxes also like other savoury items such as cheese, table scraps, bread soaked in fat, fruit and cooked vegetables. However, be aware that anything you put out for foxes could equally be taken by dogs, cats and other wildlife.
