If you know overviewR, you may have also heard of overviewpy. If not, let me introduce you to it :) When working on overviewR, it opened me so many (learning) doors. Understanding the language a bit better, trying things out and building a tool that could be helpful for the community. #rladies

After a bit of tinkering, my "gallery" got a small facelift. I'm so happy how it turned out! I also wrote a (very) short reflection on the process and how I got there. Why very short? Because it didn't take too long and was surprisingly straightforward! cosimameyer.com/post/updatin...

It's been a while since we last updated {overviewR} but it's officially updated on CRAN! 🚀 If you want to learn what's new, here's a short summary: cosimameyer.com/post/newest-... In a nutshell: - Export tables as markdown - Proportional Venn diagrams - More flexible plot colors #rladies

Artificial intelligence is shaping our world, but how do we ensure it aligns with human and moral values? Here’s a short review of “Moral AI” which addresses these and other questions: cosimameyer.com/post/moral-a... #MoralAI #AIethics #Ethics #ResponsibleAI
Photo of the book “Moral AI” by Jana Schaich Borg, Walter Sinnott-Armstrong, and Vincent Conitzer. The cover has a red background with white and black text. It features an illustration of a sliding puzzle with a partially completed image of a person’s face, symbolizing the complexity of moral AI. The book is part of the Pelican Books series.

When I started creating portraits of women in tech last year, I had no idea how quickly it would grow into the "Amazing Women in Tech" series ✨ I set up a gallery where you can flip through the portraits: 🌟 Amazing Women in Tech Gallery: gallery.cosimameyer.com #womenintech #amazingwomenintech

I played around with some functionalities of the @rladies-bot.bsky.social and @pyladies-bot.bsky.social to improve the blog post promotion. Using Gemini, I had a setup up and running in ~30 minutes. If you want to try it out yourself, here's my step-by-step guide: bit.ly/embed-gemini #python
Image showing the architecture of the bot. The bot's backend resides in a GitHub repository. GitHub Actions serves as a CRON trigger, running on a regular schedule. The CRON trigger activates a Python script named "promote_blog_posts.py". The script gathers RSS feed content from an RSS metadata pickle file containing basic information. Using the RSS feed text, the script interacts with Google AI Studio, where the Gemini API is connected. The script instructs the API to summarize the text and returns the summary. The script combines the title, author, hashtags, link, and summary to create a social media post. The post is then automatically published on Bluesky and Mastodon.

Because it never gets old... integrated gradients are a great (and accessible) way to start making your LLMs explainable 📖 Here's a blog post that I co-authored with @ankuepfer.bsky.social on this topic: bit.ly/bert-xai-post #pyladies #python #xai
Image showing integrated gradients from tokenization, vector representation, and starting with a baseline arriving step-by-step at an explainable model approach.

When you come from Hugo, playing around with MkDocs for your package documentation is so smooth! (and when you click the link, you can see how the light bulb "turns on" when you switch to dark mode 💡) cosimameyer.github.io/overviewpy

The PyLadies and R-Ladies bot now also promote YouTube videos on Mastodon 🥳 (and this is what debugging looks like on an extremely warm summer day - at least there are some living plants 🌱)

Debugging is a good approach to understanding code. And the cool thing: it’s not difficult but powerful 💪 There are 3 commands in #rstats that you need to know that do the work for you: 🛠️ debug() 🛠️ browser() 🛠️ undebug() 👉 To see them in action:

One of the coolest features of our #rstats 📦 {overviewR} is the possibility to present your sample in a cross-table. Coming from a #polisci background where I studied post-conflict countries, I often wanted to know how my observations behave depending on two conditions. #rladies

That's what you do on a Tuesday evening: #TidyTuesday! I love ggplot and what's a better occasion to play around with its functions? ♥️ I was wondering whether it really pays off going to an expensive school - and, if so, whether the type of school makes a difference.
