Another classic, not sure if I've already posted this one here.
The image is a six panel black and white comic.

Panel 1 - a girl sits at her desk in front of a computer, looking disheartened. She says, "I dont know if I should post this art, who would even want to see it?"

Panel 2- A new person bursts through the door in the background with a loud BAM

Panel 3- The new person pushes the girl out of the way, smushing her face in the process, while slamming their fist down on the keyboard.

Panel 4- The computer shows that the art has been posted

Panel 5- The person makes direct eye contact with the girl while pushing their finger against their own phone screen

Panel 6- A motion blur is added to the last panel, enhancing the impact of the new notifications on the new post. It reads, "(Friend) Liked Post just now" Followed by "(Friend) commented 'I FUCKING LOVE THIS AND I LOVE U'"

Underneath the last panel is a watermark that reads, Shubbabang

I've been thinking about range and efficiency lately as I do a bunch of regional drives between Flagstaff where I live and Kingman where my dad lives and Phoenix where I go regularly for various chores and I think I fall into the camp of it's fine if not every EV gets spark-in-the-city efficiency

To circle back to "AI is here" - my two main thoughts are: 1. just because something is here doesn't mean we are beholden to it 2. AI/LLM as a tool is pretty radically different from, say, word processor, CAD, DAWs, etc etc - it's a very different class of tool, at minimum

Cory "lives in the mountains" W @coryw.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
I don't personally like or seek out creative works done with AI because there is *so much* extant human creative output that I simply do not need to. If Kelly Clarkson starts publishing new music and it's AI backed I can just go listen to any number of other musicians that aren't.
160
Cory "lives in the mountains" W @coryw.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
I've been snowed into listening to LLM/AI-produced music a couple times and it would be fair to say that it's decent at producing plausible, listenable music.

I even think the technology of what's happening and how they run and how specific aspects to the tech are turning into a buy-vs-rent discussion are super interesting, just as a meta discussion. (f.ex. what $50,000 in hardware from NVDA/Dell/HPE gets you vs. equivalent token credits from a vendor)

Cory "lives in the mountains" W @coryw.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
I'm mixed on it. On nuance, I'm trying to be nice about people using it in software development and some (emphasis on the some) other computer toucher contexts, especially when handled with gaurdrails. I think it's impressive what AI/LLMs can do, even in media.

It's really easy, when an artist or other public figure goes off the deep end, to be "well, I've moved on" or "oh I never liked them anyway" and I always try not to do that myself because I know that this can happen with artists that I do like and I do generally enjoy a good Kelly Clarkson song

I always imagine it as a mix of random luck and physical convenience Like for me I always try to park port-facing-dispenser, if I can, unless it's a site with the dispenser at the head of the parking spot, which almost always works decently for me and then I'll try to be as left as I can

looks like it's designed to share/distribute to up to 6 stalls for, worst case, 125kW/port (annoyingly not all the details from the video made it into the written article)

EVgo’s Next-Generation Chargers: What 750 kW Really Means

Cory "lives in the mountains" W @coryw.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
That is nice, especially if it's pretty common for both sides of a 350 to be available when you pull up. (IME road tripping happens at weird enough times I often pull up to completely empty sites once I leave town)

I'll have to poke around! EVGo's own release says dynamic power sharing investors.evgo.com/news-release... - but I think they use the same term for their 200/350kW dispensers

I don't know off hand if this reflects extra-California activity but as part of the settlement EA releases reports to CARB-and-the-public with info on what they've been doing, here's the newest one saying they've opened 7 and upgraded 26 sites: media.electrifyamerica.com/releases/289

010
Cory "lives in the mountains" W @coryw.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
I will add that it would be hilarious if they ended up retrofitting some of the remaining dual-cable dispensers with NACS handles but there's no way to do that without making someone mad, unless they also make the cables way longer like walmart did
010
Cory "lives in the mountains" W @coryw.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
I won't fault EA for this at all because there was a couple specific reasons for this when they first got started, but the Gen4 dispenser with the single cable is undeniably a better, clearer design for what's possible/expected.
110
Cory "lives in the mountains" W @coryw.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
as a side story about this, I had to tell three separate people in the space of just one week that EA's dual cable dispensers only support one session each, one of them after they'd stopped my session to try to plug their car even though the cable won't reach the next spot over.
110
Cory "lives in the mountains" W @coryw.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
as a hyper nerd note some of the EA ABB/Signet sites are being upgraded to 3x Gen4 BTCpower dispensers and one relocated Gen1 BTCpower dispenser with new CCS1 cabling, to retain a CHAdeMO connector
100
Cory "lives in the mountains" W @coryw.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
So electrically very similar to the dual port Delta/ABB/Alpitronic units EVgo et al uses, but arranged differently physically
100
Cory "lives in the mountains" W @coryw.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
oh! you mean the old dual cable dispensers that only support one session, it sounds like? those are being upgraded to single-cable dispensers that have longer cables and better cable management (at least in AZ) EA 350 balanced is two of those dispensers sharing one power cabinet
200
Cory "lives in the mountains" W @coryw.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
My understanding is both EA Balanced and EVGo are splitting the 350 between two cars, and both support relatively dynamic allocation (e.g. oldBolt+EGMP should get both running fine) but there's a lot of EAs that are still on 2x350 (dedicated) and 2x150 (dedicated) which can cause unlucky timing
110
Cory "lives in the mountains" W @coryw.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
neither here nor there but unless anyone's deploying Alpi/ABB 400kW units with only one cable I believe EA's non-balanced 350kW sites are the current guaranteed power leader in terms of US deployed hardware. ChargePoint introduced a 600kW AIO unit but it can be configured for 4 sessions
000
Cory "lives in the mountains" W @coryw.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
EVGo has a bunch of kind of "unevenly sized" sites with 2x50kW and 1x350kW machines, for example, where 1x750kW distributed system (if there's enough power) might net increase ports or reduce the chance that people end up at the "wrong" dispenser for their car

Cory "lives in the mountains" W @coryw.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
A thing I'd kind of like to see more of is more shared power systems that split say 1MW amongst 8-16 ports rather than just 2-4. Downside is no NEVI compliance (150kW gauranteed minimum needed for NEVI) upside is more EVs connected at once, shorter perceived waits at busy sites
100
Cory "lives in the mountains" W @coryw.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
I'm curious what this'll look like. 750kW is enough I could see a few different scenarios EA and EVGo both have dual-vehicle 350kW setups that can share power, and EA also has dedicated 350kW dispensers.

EVgo’s 750 kW charging system is coming in 2027
EVgo’s next charging system will share up to 750 kW across stalls, with NACS plugs and a planned 2027 rollout.

Cory "lives in the mountains" W @coryw.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
I like Portland a lot but I've come over the years to really find I get a lot out of going down to Phoenix it's also not lost on me that the last time I vancamped Portland it was ~95-105F all of the days, although night temps went down a little better especially in the outlying areas I was using

Cory "lives in the mountains" W @coryw.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
if I can make the case for Flagstaff: - Right There, just 120mi away, if you can handle 10 and 5 you can handle 17 - basically the same temperatures as Portland - snow - less water admittedly but not strictly speaking none - urban trail system! - mountains ooohhh aaahhh - come hang out with Cory!

(I would also fully agree SWSH are generally better tuned for switch 1, with the smaller diorama sets more closely matching how the earlier games worked rather than trying to do One Big Open World)

I really need to revisit SWSH. I started a replay just long enough to get to trading and then abandoned it because it wouldn't trade with SV :P Technically I think SV are more ambitious in a way that works against them especially on the switch 1, they look and play better on the 2 for sure
