On the hillside below the Karaburun lighthouse lies the Garipler Mezarlığı (Cemetery of the Unknown), with Ottoman gravestones dating from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. During the Ottoman period, this was where unidentified bodies recovered from the Black Sea were buried.

🇹🇷While walking on the outskirts of Karaburun, I came across this half-abandoned building. Inside, there was only an Atatürk bust, the kind you often see in schools. It looks like someone from the village was restoring the bust ❤️‍🩹 It struck me as a beautiful metaphor Zafer Bayramınız kutlu olsun! 🇹🇷

📍Anadolu Hisarı (Fortaleza de Anatolia) Construida a finales del siglo XIV por Bayezid I para controlar el Bósforo y aislar Constantinopla. Casi 60 años después, Mehmed II levantó su fortaleza hermana enfrente: Rumeli Hisarı. Ambas cerraron el estrecho durante la conquista en 1453.
