Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 14hI'll put the bash plate and other shit back on tomorrow 090
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 07/10/2026Ayyy, new clutch plates just came. Tossed em in a thing of oil to soak until I get off work. 000
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 06/10/2026I was going to chalk it up to the news' target demographic (fearful boomers) but even my dad got caught street racing in the 70s Then again, it could be intentional? I can see someone clutch pearls over the description of a burnout vs being mildly annoyed if you just said people are doing burnouts 110
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 06/10/2026My taste is all over the place so it was brutal narrowing things down. Kinda went for albums I listen to front to back repeatedly across different genres (or in the case of FLCL and the pillows, what altered my brain chemistry) 050
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 06/10/2026That's lame, but I will absolutely take Perfume as a runner up. The amount of times I've played ~Complete Best~ in the dark room is embarrassing. 110
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 06/10/2026Cookin with gas, I'm reading and writing to registers. Also a bit too dumb this late at night to stumble my way into doing anything useful because that would require math and it's mushy smooth brain time. 000
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 05/10/2026Sitting in a meeting, "If you use Arch please...consider...using a normal distro like Ubuntu. *ahem* <my name>." 030
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 05/10/2026Pooooossibly. I'm having to bit shift and pad the values because I'm trying to pull smaller fields out of the 16-bit registers 110
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 05/10/2026Well, I’ve gotten the i2c comms to work but I’m either reading or buffering the registers incorrectly 120
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 04/10/2026Why would you care about reliable network communication if you already do not give one shit about reliable output 010
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 04/10/2026Went back to DIY light meter since I’m waiting on clutch plates. These lil baby SOT583 breakout boards came a week or so ago. Waaay easier to bust out the SMD rework station than trying to directly solder wires to the pins 030
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 04/10/2026I think I'll try patching qemu to use fake hardware names first. If memory serves, Looking Glass ran a bit shitty without those drivers. 001
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 04/10/2026Hm, wonder what Ace Combat's EAC is fingerprinting on my VM. VirtIO drivers, maybe? 100
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 02/10/2026I'm a dude, he's a dude, she's a dude, WE'RE ALL DUDES, HEY! 010
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 02/10/2026It makes sense the more I think about it, they survive bathing in a nonpolar solvent. At least I get to be one of today’s lucky 10,000. Man, I still consider automatics to be sorcery due to the sheer number of parts. A buddy is about to rebuild one off an F150 and he’s like “its really simple” 110
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 02/10/2026In better news, the new Goblin Cock LP showed up a full week before the release date 010
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 02/10/2026L m a o Ordered a new set of plates and for shiggles I put one of the burnt out friction plates in water. Poked one of the pads after 10 minutes and it just poofed into haze. So root cause has been found 000
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 02/10/2026Popped the sides of the crank case back off and pulled the clutch again and the friction plates are… dissolving? Were their binders fucking water soluble????? All I did when i first pulled them off was wipe them down and then soak them in new oil, and the housing already looks like before 210
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 02/10/2026And were back. Color me shocked that one dude actually stopped to ask if Im aight out of the dozen cars that passed. My neck of the woods is filled with yuppies now 010
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 02/10/2026Okay, finished getting the bike back together and went to just get gas down the road. Clutch gave out again. So far pushed the bike halfway home uphill. Christ, it’s a good thing i quit smoking when I turned 30 120
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 30/09/2026Wanted to make sure it even runs before I hook the throttle back up and actually mount the tank 020
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 30/09/2026Obviously a true stoic wouldn't let this bother them 0120
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 29/09/2026I'm not sure if I'm more impressed by the drawings or the fact you traced the diagram from a 50 year old manual. Either way, it's art. 110
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 29/09/2026I have once again gotten all the CPE credits I need to renew my CISSP by popping shells on HTB as penance for having that fucking cert 010
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 29/09/2026Definitely gotta use some magic pixies for heating some gloves before the temps start dropping 100
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 29/09/2026If I remember the numbers, the Himalayan 411 makes like 220ish watts at idle and about half of that is used, so the other half is just dumped to ground which feels.. real bad. And I threw carb on this so whatever power would've been allocated to the fuel pump and injectors is also being wasted. 100
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 29/09/2026Hell yeah it is. Everybody bitches on forums that the OEM regulator burns out the stator, so why not solve that problem with ebay and $25 100
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 29/09/2026That series regulator/rectifier ratfucked off a seadoo is the same bolt pattern as the cheapo shunt R/R, but it’s a wee bit longer. Made an ugly bracket with random aluminum stock to rotate it and it clears the starter and carb fine. Need to paint it and grab a shorter bolt though 170
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 29/09/2026Well, I am not good enough to braze aluminum. Now to find another way to fab a bracket with random bullshit in the garage 010
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 28/09/2026Yeah it'll click eventually and you'll do it without thinking. The downside is, until it does, you get to experience fun things like stalling at a red light at the top of a hill because you're stressed about not rolling back and now everyone has missed the light. 110
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 28/09/2026Even in shitty stop and go traffic, it gives you something to do. Bumper to bumper traffic becomes a grueling minigame which is far more tolerable than passively feeling stuck. 240
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 27/09/2026Got the head back on and valves set. Clutch is back in, which was a handful even with stopping to fab a tool to help, but it wooorks! And it’s super smooth! Now I just need to put the left side of the crank case back on and put the rest of the bike back together 040
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 26/09/2026Just a casual reminder that I flushed the oil thrice before my friends picked me and the bike up lmao 030
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 26/09/2026Got the cylinder head off, valves and seals are good. The sleeve and piston head look fine, so I think we’re all good besides.. cleaning the rest of the gross out. Currently flushing all the choccy milk out of the oil cooler 110
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 26/09/2026Just saw a zombie velociraptor in someone’s yard and that’s gotta be the fuckin coolest Halloween decoration I’ve ever seen 010
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 26/09/2026Lol, thank you If you were curious, a shunt regulator takes whatever excess power that’s not needed by the battery, lights, etc and sends it on a bypass to ground, always drawing a full load. A series regulator on the other hand uses switches to draw just what it needs. Less strain on the stator. 110
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 26/09/2026I had already fixed the gear position sensor’s parasitic drain but there’s one more part to the wiring I need to fix up while I’m here. The stators on these are prone to burning out and they have oldschool shunt regulator/rectifiers. Found a series RR off a seadoo for $25 and that should help it 110
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 26/09/2026Since I’m stripping the bike and cleaning everything, took the opportunity to up the size of the main and pilot jets. It was still running lean with the fuel screw 2.75 turns out and 1mm of shim on the needle. I also pulled the exhaust apart and cleaned all the rust off the outside and flanges 110
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 26/09/2026The clutch basically being jammed out of battery kept it disengaged. The plates are fine though, just some slight marring inside the bell housing from it popping to the side slightly And all this schmoo certainly didn’t help lmao. Plates are cleaned up and soaking in oil till I throw em back in 110
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 26/09/2026So the inner plate that holds all the clutch plates and has the studs, that the springs slide over, that threads into the pressure plate has a lot of tolerance. Pretty sure the crank case pressure from a quarter mile of flooded road let it spin a few degrees indepently of the clutch bell housing. 110
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 26/09/2026Both sides of the crank case are off and everything inside is fine, just coated in gross watery oil. The stage 2 cam from hitchcocks has 1k miles on it and looks good, the valves don’t have any uneven wear from it either. The clutch uhh, well its good but I understand why it jammed 110
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 26/09/2026I’ve become rather proficient at working on the Himalayan and I don’t know if that’s a good thing lmao Good news is, so far, there’s no real damage from Tuesday’s blind corner oopsie into a flash flooded road. Still need to take the head off for peace of mind though 160
Correlated Noise @correlatednoise.net · 26/09/2026Prints by the metre, good lord that’s so hilariously cool 110
