Lucky pants and socks deployed for #ENGvNZL today 🏟️🏉🤞🤞🤞
Si looking hopeful dressed in a white England rugby top. Behind him is a green wall with a dark brown shelf on it. On the shelf is a rainbow nightlight, a random goat toy, a mostly red print that reads “SW12 Balham (gateway to the south)”, to the left is a red umarell that stands in constant judgement, and a festival poster for Krankenhaus music festival.

Saw Sigur Rós last night in Amsterdam, a very different experience than the Royal Albert Hall, much more intimate compared to last week and easier to hear the orchestra (being deaf). Great venue too, a theatre originally built as a permanent horse circus space!

Whenever I’m travelling west, I buy one or two of these to keep me going through the year. The 2 x 16 limit here is silly, and is not going to stop anyone seriously contemplating taking more 😔
A wooden dining table with a turquoise / blue running running down the middle. On top of the runner is a half empty bottle of 500 aspirin tablets. Next to that is a mug of tea with a bear wearing a shirt and pink jumper pouring a cup of coffee / tea in to his mouth, next to him the mug reads “MORNING!”

Here you are, taken recently when it was gorgeously clear all the way out to Worthing pier (about 12 miles away). What does yours look like?

Dealing with glut of produce from the allotment, been busy making soups, jams, sauces, kimchi, and apple butter to use over the winter. #allotmentlife #gardening
A shelf in our larder filled with jars. From left to right, jars containing a red tomato and basil sauce, then jars containing green pea and ham soup, then some plum jam with jars of blackberry & raspberry jam on top, then some jars of kimchi, and finally some small jars of dark brown spiced apple butter!

Went to a Deaf Rave DJ workshop today, and it was *brilliant*. Run by Troi Lee (DJ Chinaman - played Glasto, Boomtown, has run Deaf Raves for years), taught us the basics of mixing, and the Woojer haptic vests were 🤯 a whole new music experience!!! 10/10 would recommend 👌

Had the privilege of seeing Nick Cave perform a solo show at the Ancient Theatre of Philippopolis, a Roman amphitheatre in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Over two and a half hours and one of the best gigs I’ve ever been to. Every song he writes has intent and means something to him and the audience. Wonderful 😍

Wandering around Sofia today, dropped in to the Church of St Nicholas the Miracle-Maker, a stunning and small Russian Orthodox Church, and then on the opposite end of the scale the St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, which is big enough to give service to 5,000 people 😮
The Russian Church (Bulgarian: Руска църква, romanized: Ruska tsarkva), officially known as the Church of St Nicholas the Miracle-Maker (Bulgarian: църква „Св. Николай Чудотворец“, romanized: tsarkva "Sv. Nikolay Chudotvorets", Russian: Церковь Святителя Николая Чудотворца (София)), is a Russian Orthodox church in central Sofia, Bulgaria situated on Tsar Osvoboditel Boulevard.

Interestingly it looks like “Alan” posted a follow up clarifying it wasn’t homophobia after all.
Review on TripAdvisor by “alangibb2703” of the Lion and Lobster pub in Brighton that reads:
"Mistaken for homophobia
I forgot the password to my previous account but I now have a follow up after the my recent complaint email from The Lion & Lobster.

My friends and I had booked a table/area for the day, but there was a mix-up that led to our reservation being cancelled. At the time, we misunderstood the situation and believed it was due to discrimination. However, we've since realized that was not the case. The staff member we interacted with was actually very kind and respectful. We appreciate the clarification and the professionalism shown. Mistakes happen, and we're glad to move forward with better understanding."

Yep, cake is easier to make moist and will keep for days (if not instantly devoured!). See exhibit A) Pride unicorn Victoria sandwich made on Thursday, last sliver will be had with tea today. Top tip: adding some ground almonds in to the mix really helps moisture levels.
A Victoria sandwich sponge cake with what looks like an inch of white vanilla buttercream in the middle and another inch piped on top 😱 the buttercream on top is piped individually, and look like Hershey Kiss shaped meringues! On top of the buttercream is a homemade unicorn mix of sprinkles, white chocolate chips, and mini “Smarties”.The last eighth of the unicorn Victoria sandwich sponge cake. The cake is yellowy colour, and still looks beautifully moist. In the middle is a thick layer of vanilla buttercream with raspberry jelly. On top lots more buttercream and multicolour sprinkles

Thanks for the heads up, I’ve replied. Feel free to upvote 😉
It’s a very interesting perspective you have, Andy. The article feels deliberately provocative and clickbait-y from the get-go. First off, it’s not “straight pride”, Brighton Pride is for everyone. It’s the UK’s largest LGBT+ pride event, with multiple events throughout the weekend. The parade, which is free, includes thousands of people, some celebrating, some protesting, and is watched by over 300,000 people along the parade route. The Party in the Park raises money for charities and to fund the Pride event. tickets started at £42 in the early release and, more importantly, were available on an installment plan to make them more accessible. You mention that Preston Park will impact you, I’m sure you will already know, but for the benefit of other readers, residents surrounding Preston Park and St James St / Marine Parade are able to buy heavily discounted tickets. Whilst there are still large parts of Preston Park that aren’t closed this weekend, if you’re looking for a more peaceful park experience then Blakers Park is just a few minutes walk up Preston Drove and an oasis I would recommend. You are spot on that there is a lot more rubbish on the streets, beach, and parks as a result of so many people visiting. Last year B&H Council did an amazing job of following behind the parade to clean streets ready for re-opening, and as usual there are the community-led cleanups that are always very popular and great fun like the Great Beach Clean Up. One interesting thing is that more and more people are alcohol or drug free nowadays, and Pride has a alcohol/drug free area in the park, as well as a large sober community group in the parade. As for being commercial, this has always been the way with any protest or celebration, there will be the companies that sincerely support the cause and there will be the companies that chase customers. Pride is estimated to bring in £22m in to the Brighton economy over the weekend. The hundreds of thousands of people who visit need …

Some of which is driven by the unaccountable procurement gods in the first place, good solutions have to be lowballed because price becomes more important than the actual solution and service.
An AI generated image using the prompt “A ceramic mug sat on a desk with the words “you get the suppliers you deserve” written on it. The mug is placed next to a computer keyboard. There is an ID card also on the desk, the picture is a headshot of a bald white man, the only word that can be distinguished on the ID card is “procurement””

The actual text on the mug reads “you getthe suppiliers your your deserve”, because generative AI is largely a bit rubbish and isn’t going to take over the world in the next couple of months, despite what the techbros tell us.

I share concern about uploading personal data such as passport, face scan, driving license etc, however, one acceptable form of verification is a standard pre-authorisation check on any debit or credit card carried out by Stripe (who process $1.4T payments annually), I can’t see an issue there
Payment card verification works differently depending on whether you are in the US or the rest of the world.

If you’re located in the US, $0.05 (USD) is charged to your card. This is refunded within 8-13 business days.
If you’re located outside of the US, there is no charge to your card. Instead, a small amount is temporarily authorized against your card and then released.
This service is provided by our payment processor Stripe, but Kids Web Services will appear as the merchant associated with the charge/authorization on your statement.

Visited the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston today. It is most definitely a maximalist heaven that continually asks “Is this enough? No. No, we could do more”
Photo taken from one of the side galleries that surrounds a central courtyard. The opposite side of the courtyard is a marble / stone sculpture of a man. The courtyard between is full of plants and flowers. Foxgloves and hollyhocks with large upright spikes of flowers, purples, creams, whites, and pinks.Another view of the courtyard taken through the undergrowth of planting. The walls the opposite side of the courtyard have elaborate windows with Juliet balconies, reminiscent of a Venetian palace. This view of the courtyard shows the central mosaic, white with a dark frame and in the centre a mosaic of Medusa. Surrounding the mosaic is the courtyard, symmetrical, paths around the side, planting filling every space with green foliage and beautiful flowers. A double staircase leads up to the second floor from the courtyard. The windows and galleries around the courtyard on the first, second, and third floor show the Venetian palatial influence.
