That is, the Board (or President/spox) will state something that is factually true that purports to address the concern, but at the same time omits details that would reveal that the real concern isn't addressed. [As an example, consider ⬇️ Very little detail on this "range" of consequences.] /10

Visit the Sun's web site and look for the signup link. You can also follow their social media accounts (though not yet on bsky!). Our sense is that many alums are pretty disconnected to current campus issues, and yet it would really help students if alumni were more aware of what's going on.

For example, look how the story got out of hand w/misinformation. We know some alumni read this publication⬇️ Yet this student group wasn't protesting Israel--they're focused on internal Code of Conduct policy. "Left-wing"? Even the conservative Cornell Review covered their cause sympathetically.

Only 6.6% of contactable alumni voted in last year's election. And the 4-page doc w/data on 2025 trustee elections didn't even mention this turnout %. 6.6% of alumni voting embarrassingly low. And it's been low for years, so the ppl in charge apparently don't think it's worth trying to change this.

We join in solidarity w/ @crimsoncourage.bsky.social, calling on Harvard's leaders to standing up to unlawful pressure. Americans must join together in getting universities to stand up to these attacks on our universities. Find the group for your alma mater here: cornellcourage.com/affiliates

Also, this "Harvard has no choice" excuse is bogus. We heard this in 2025 re: Cornell. (turns out the federal funding freeze $ amt was overblown) Harvard was successful in its lawsuits re: funding. And there are intelligent people there who can figure out how to navigate federal funding disruptions.

All university leaders must join with Harvard's stance of resistance. People everywhere: please push your alma mater's leaders to do so. We hear Princeton's leadership is pretty good on this front. Cornell's...not so much. And we are letting them know that such cowardice is not acceptable to us.

Specifically, the task force found that Cornell should "speak up" for the right thing, basically. And this includes our nation's democratic system and the rule of law, because Cornell can't fulfill its mission without those. [Full document here: provost.cornell.edu/_assets/docu... ]

Specifically, their quote was this (but do read the whole article to see & support the Ithaca Time's coverage of the issue).

Here's a video showing 2 Cornell Courage members up in Ithaca earlier this week to hand-deliver our letters to offices of the President and Board. Despite the cold (..and you know that kind of cold...) it was important to show we are serious. See the letters on our web site at cornellcourage.org

Update: 2 of us were just up in Ithaca bringing the Open Letter with the first round of signatures. Hand-delivered to Kotlikoff's / Trustees' offices. We also included a letter from the steering committee with specific demands that Cornell must take to limit the damage & protect Cornell's values.
Cornell Courage members delivering the alumni letter with the first round of signatures, to the Board. Location is Sage House, the office housing the Board of Trustee's office. It's partway down the hill.
