I have my favorite landscape photos in the home screen folder. This one is of Mammoth Hot Springs, first light, mid January, about -25°F I was keeping the camera in my shirt to keep it warm.

The sun is just barely backlighting the trees at the top of the berm. There's some effluent with a nice microbial tail. The sky is a gradient of dark to light.

Auschwitz was at the end of a long process. It did not start from gas chambers. This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder. Auschwitz took time.
