What's even more interesting is that all alternative drivetrains (BEVs + PHEVs + HEVs) was at 43.5% of all new car sales in California. This isn't as high as that 3Q peak (where it was 47.8%)... but we are moving in an interesting direction...

Interesting to see that California's BEV share is almost back to 2Q 2025 levels this previous quarter (~18%) before the re-introduction of a state subsidy. Suggests that California's EV market is stabilizing after the pull back of the federal credits.

I'd imagine 3Q 2026 will look challenging (year-on-year) given how high sales were last year in 3Q 2025. But after, I think we'll be on solid ground moving forward. That would mirror what has happened in places like in the U.K. and Germany previously after incentives expired.
