23,793 households in North Northamptonshire have no car or van at all. For them the bus is the service, not the backup. The Government’s fare cap falls to £2 in January 2027. Lib Dems want £1 — plus 10% off rail fares and 12p a litre off at the pump. (ONS, Census 2021)
Orange graphic. Headline: Cut the cost of getting around. Text: Liberal Democrats are calling on the Chancellor to cut fuel duty by 10p — 12p a litre off at the pump. £1 bus fares, not the £2 cap planned for January 2027. Rail fares down 10%. Everyone in Corby pays a water bill. Nobody in Corby owns a share of the company that sends it. Reported plans would add nine regional bodies run by mayors. North Northamptonshire hasn’t got one. Put water in mutual ownership instead.
Green graphic headed WATER OWNERSHIP, with the headline “Owned by billpayers. Not run by mayors.” in large white type. Below it: reported plans would put water companies under nine new regional bodies overseen by mayors; North Northamptonshire hasn’t got a mayor and the devolution bid it has in with Government is for a Foundation Strategic Authority, which doesn’t come with one either; and the Liberal Democrats want water in mutual ownership, run by and for the people who use it. The one-in, one-out pilot with France, as at 30 June: 1,087 people returned, 1,117 accepted. We took more than we sent. 33,000 arrived by small boat that year. Deals done one country at a time don't scale. Britain should negotiate into the EU-wide returns system.
