As Trump is on a renaming roll, no reason the province of Ontario shouldn’t be named America since it was named after the lake. In Hungary Vienna is Bécs, Bejing Péking and Germany Németország. The Pacific Ocean could be the Trump-Kennedy Ocean. Slovenia could be Melanoma after its famous whore.

Here’s a prediction. The north portico of the White House is covered for some ill-defined repairs to the columns. Trump wants to change the Ionic capitals (think matronly or evoking domesticity) with Corinthian (maidenly or evoking civic virtue) which is what is planned on the bloated ballroom. 1/2.

Our president is rapidly deteriorating. Republicans will not be able to keep their heads in the sand much longer. The time between the release of the Watergate tapes and Nixon’s resignation was short. I hope our present national nightmare will soon be over.

When the President of the United States says he doesn’t know if he should uphold the Constitution, it should be a searing red line for every American. If you let him ignore ANY aspect of the Constitution you embolden him to ignore more of it, including the parts that secure YOUR freedoms & rights.

Generally I don’t like these silver lining stories to what’s going on. There is no silver lining to Trump’s abdication of the US’ leadership in the world and establishment of permanent one party rule. But there are a few signs that Republican’s might fall short of total destruction.

The next step is for European countries to send troops to defend Ukraine. Republicans’ call for impeaching judges who limit their power is a sign of overreach. Americans need to act now if they want self-government. I don’t believe most Trumpers wanted to be ruled by a self-serving oligarchy.

🚨 Gov. Hochul says she's meeting with "key leaders" in Manhattan tomorrow to discuss the prospect removing Mayor Adams after four deputy mayors resigned. "If they feel unable to serve in City Hall at this time, that raises serious questions about the long-term future of this Mayoral administration"
STATEMENT FROM GOVERNOR KATHY HOCHUL

“Since taking office in 2021, I’ve done everything possible to partner with the City of New York under the leadership of two different mayors. We’ve worked together to fight crime on the streets and subways, close illegal cannabis shops and build more housing through ‘City of Yes’. Bickering between State and City officials is a waste of time and I refuse to go back to the days where our constituents are caught in the crossfire of political turf wars.

“Earlier today I spoke with First Deputy Mayor Maria Torres-Springer to express my gratitude for her years of service to New York City. She, along with Deputy Mayors Anne Williams-Isom, Meera Joshi and Chauncey Parker, have been strong partners with my Administration across dozens of key issues. If they feel unable to serve in City Hall at this time, that raises serious questions about the long-term future of this Mayoral administration.“I recognize the immense responsibility I hold as governor and the constitutional powers granted to this office. In the 235 years of New York State history, these powers have never been utilized to remove a duly-elected mayor; overturning the will of the voters is a serious step that should not be taken lightly. That said, the alleged conduct at City Hall that has been reported over the past two weeks is troubling and cannot be ignored. Tomorrow, I have asked key leaders to meet me at my Manhattan office for a conversation about the path forward, with the goal of ensuring stability for the City of New York.

“Let me be clear: my most urgent concern is the well-being of my 8.3 million constituents who live in New York City. I will be monitoring this situation extraordinarily closely to ensure that New Yorkers are not being shortchanged by the current crisis in City government.”

The NYT headline is needlessly inflammatory. Article discusses whether children born to parents who are illegally in the US are citizens at birth. It’s about what the 14th Am. means not disregarding it. Authors don’t address the citizenship of children born to a tourist legally here.
